Rev. L. D. ROBERTSON officiated at the final rites, and burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. REED passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ruby CAZZELL, on Dugger R. 1, at 3:20 o’clock Saturday afternoon. She had been ill for about a week in the CAZZELL home, where she had lived for the past several months. Born in Jackson Township on December 17, 1881, she was the daughter of Christopher Columbus and Sarah (BUHER) ASHCRAFT. Her husband, Charley REED, preceded her in death on March 15, 1948. Mrs. REED had spent most of her life in Jackson Township, and was a member of the ASHCRAFT Chapel Church. Surviving her are three sons, Bert and Wayne REED, of Bloomfield, and Ted REED, of Koleen; three daughters, Mrs. CAZZELL, of Dugger; Mrs. Mary MEARS, of Midland, and Mrs. Winnie ASHCRAFT, of Cedar Lake, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Fredia Rose HAYES, whom she reared. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Jessie REED, of Bloomfield; Mrs. Inez LEE, of Vincennes, and Mrs. Ethel LOCKWOOD, of Jeffersonville, and one brother, Robert ASHCRAFT, of Texas.
