I discovered that the township boundaries have changed over the years, like most places in the USA. The map legend states that in 1821 the following townships were organized: Highland, Richland, Burlingame, Plummer, and Stafford. Today [map date is 1965] the old HIGHLAND township consists of present day Highland, plus territory now covered by Eel River, Jefferson, Smith and Wright townships. RICHLAND consisted of present day Richland, plus Fairplay, Grant & Stockton townships. BURLINGAME made up present day Jackson, Center, & Beech Creek townships. PLUMMER consisted of present day Cass & Taylor townships. STAFFORD consisted of present day Stafford & Washington townships. So depending on the census year, the townships might be different than we know today. Anyone else have any more current than 1965 info on the townships??? Here's a good Greene County, Indiana site, too, if you don't already know abou it: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ingreene/ Also see: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ingreene/cemetery.htm
