He was born in Illinois, May 1, 1848, but removed with his parents to Newberry when a small child. When the call came for help to preserve the nation he became a member of CO A 29TH REGIMENT OF INDIANA 22D INFANTRY and served his country three years. He married Jennie BYNUM, of Newberry, March 21, 1875. To this union one daughter was born. His wife preceded him to the grave many years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George MCCALL, of Wheatland; one granddaughter, Mrs. Conard SMALL, of Wheatland; one sister Mrs. Sarah MORRISON, of Newberry, and a large number of other relatives. It was his wish to be laid to rest in the beautiful Danville Military Cemetery, where over three thousand of his comrades are at rest. __ Link to the Obituary of his sister, Sarah J.
