He and his wife, Elizabeth McHargue, died fairly young, perhaps at the same time(she died in 1879, he before 1880...accident/disease?). At least three of their sons lived with her father for awhile afterward; this may explain why there wasn't much knowledge passed down about the Cassner side of their family. I still believe Samuel was a brother (or possibly a cousin) to Vandal, living nearby, a son of George and Margaret Yeager Casner. Sorry I couldn't help with your search.
