I'm new to the Greene County Board, I have been chasing the McGill family all over In, Ky, Va, NC & Md. I have hopes of running them down in Greene County. Zachariah McGill appears in the 1840 Greene Co Census. He would have been 70-80 years old. He appears next to his son? William McGill m. Hester Davis who lived in Greene Co for some years. William's girls, Rebecca married Mark R. Sexson 22 Sept, 1852, Drucilla married James Ferguson 21 Dec 1840 - according to the Stalcup family geneology. Isiah & Nancy(McGill)Slavens live down the road from Zachariah and William in the same census. Trying to connect Zachariah to William & Nancy and a string of other sons and daughters in Putnam and Orange Counties. He is listed in Orange County in 1820 with 10 children living with him. In 1830 he is in Putnam Co. The trail ends in Greene Co, for now. Any information would be helpful. Possible burial, will, anything. What I have now is pure conjecture, it has been pieced together from all the records I can find. Please don't take it as gospel, I could be totally wrong about this. Would love to correspond with anyone who might have some insights into this family.....
