Civil War Veterans: I'm including my 3rd Gr Grandfathers who were both in the Civil War to be honored for their services to our country. These men were brothers and Robert F. LIVINGSTON b. 1824 KY was my 3rd GrGrandfather on my Paternal side and his brother James V. LIVINGSTON b. ca1822 KY was my 3rd GrGrandfather on my step-dad's side......they were 1st cousins. Robert F. Livingston [m. Elizabeth COOPER] was enrolled 22 Aug 1862 at Monroe Co.,in CoI 82nd Reg. of Ind. Vol to serve 3 years - mustered into service as a Pvt. 27 Aug 1862 at Indianapolis, in Co.I 82nd Reg. of Ind. Vol. Dated 9 June 1865.....he was reported missing at Chichamauga - 20 Sept 1863.....died at Danville, VA. 7 Dec 1863 of Variola {smallpox} while a prisoner of War. James V. Livingston [m. Nancy TURPIN] enrolled 5 Sept 1861, Terre Haute,IN....CoG, 31st Reg. of Ind. Vol.....mustered into service 2 Sept 1861 Terre Haute - reported " Killed in action near Marietta, GA. 23 June 1864....in another document dated 10 Sept 1864 it states that James had re-enlisted as a veteran while in the Army 1864, who while in the service aforesaid and in the line of duty was wounded by a gun shot on the 23rd day of June 1864 of which he died the same day near Marietta in the State of GA. Both of these men died while serving their country and the ironic thing about their deaths also is the fact that both or their oldest sons also enlisted in the Civil War only to be fatally wounded during their time of service. Robert's son John W. Livingston and James son James. Thus leaving both of these families with a very hard life ahead of them, Robert's five children were left with no parents as his wife had died in 1861 and James loss left his wife to raise six surviving children by herself. So I honor all four of these brave Livingston fathers and sons. N.J.Skinner White vwhite0901@aol.com "Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past." (Deuteronomy 32:7a)
