The deceased was born near Dresden, Greene County in 1833. At an early age he moved his residence to Martin County, was united in marriage to Mary A. COOPER on February 24, 1853. To this union were born eight children, three of whom preceded him to the grave. Those surviving him are Lovell and Marshall of Colton, California. Mrs. Genettie ALDRIDGE of Lyons, William and Mrs. Sarah A. CONDIFF of Shoals. His wife departed this life April 7, 1864. He was united in marriage to Jerusha E. ALEXANDER on May 18, 1865, and to this last union were born ten children of which five survive him, Thomas J. of Owensburg, Mrs. Mary A. BROCK, Martin L. and Mrs. Iva M. JOHNSON, of Shoals, and Mrs. Pricilla F. LEWIS, of Terre Haute. After short services Wednesday by Rev. HATFIELD, the remains were laid to rest in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Martin County—Shoals News. Mr. HERT was an uncle of J. G.
