He was married to Mary ALLEN of Richland Township. To this union were born five children, three boys and two girls. One son and one daughter with their mother preceded him to the better world. The surviving relative are Mrs. Jennie FRY, Bloomfield; two sons John SHAFFER, Koleen, and Hershel SHAFFER, who lived at home, one brother Aaron SHAFFER, Center Township; three sisters, Anna CHRIST, Bluffton, Indiana; Lottie MYERS, Springfield, Ohio, and Emma MAXWELL, Topeka, Kansas. He was a kind and loving father and loving husband and good neighbor and citizen. The funeral services were conducted at Walnut Grove by Elder J. A.
