Combs.” [Transcribed 14 Apr 2002 from Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library’s IHS Microfilm Records.] Edgar COMBS, son of M.{Martin) L.{Luther} and Thirza {CAIN} COMBS, was born May 17, 1881, and died May 12, 1912, aged thirty years, ten months and twenty-five days. He was married to Miss Helen WILBUR on March 1, 1899. To this union one daughter, Audrey, was born. While Audrey was yet a babe the mother died leaving the young husband the care of the babe. This responsibility was taken from the young parent by his father, mother and grandmother, Mrs. S. E. COMBS, who have cared for Audrey as their own child. On June 17, 1902, Edgar was married to Luella BISHOP. To this union his children, Helen and Loren, were born. For the past nine years Edgar has been away from Bloomfield, but he is well remembered and loved by his old friends. He, with his sister Bertie, now Mrs. Frank RAMSEY, Jr., played as children around their home, the Combs House and were loved by everyone. Edgar joined the M. E. church and was baptized when he was about eleven years of age and was a regular attendant at the Sunday-school. It was said by one of his friends, since his death, that they remembered how anxious and willing he was to be of service when there was anything to do for the church. At the time of his death he was employed by the Marshall, Field Co., leaving his place of employment seemingly in good health on Saturday night. Sunday being a cold rainy day, Edgar sought comfort and rest in his room. Lighting the stove, he lay down across his bed and was found thus, only life was extinct, caused from the fumes escaping from the stove. His lifeless body was taken in charge by Oscar RIDDLE, a cousin, and Max NORVELL, a friend, both of this place, and sent her to his childhood home just two days before his thirty-first birthday. Edgar leaves a wife, three children, mother, father, sister, grandmother, and hosts of relatives and friends to mourn his untimely death. The funeral was held at the M. E. church last Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George H. REIBOLD. — Link to the Obituary of his first wife, Helen (WILBUR) COMBS: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene&m=3998 — Link to the Obituary of his grandmother, Sarah E.
