Bryan Passes Away At His Home in Bloomfield Last Friday.” John E. BRYAN is dead, having passed away at his residence, East Main Street, Bloomfield, at 4:00 P. M. March 1, 1912. Mr. BRYAN was born at Winterset, Iowa, September 7, 1858. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward BRYAN. His father and mother lived in Greene County and his mother was on a visit to Iowa when Mr. BRYAN was born. He was reared and brought up near Solsberry this county, and attended the common school at Solsberry, and afterward attended college at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio. He entered the mercantile business with his brother Freel BRYAN at Solsberry, and soon afterward was married, on New Years’ eve, December 31, 1880, to Miss Ida FRAME. He and his brother continued the mercantile business for some years, and Mr. BRYAN then purchased his brother’s interest, and finally sold out and moved to Bloomfield with his family in January 1888. He entered the store of Hert & Graham with whom he was associated got a number of years; afterward en! tering the real estate business and particularly dealing in swamp lands, in which business he was very successful. He was a member of Accolade Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Bloomfield, and of the Elks Lodge at Bloomington, Indiana. He left surviving him widow, Ida BRYAN, daughter Grace BRYAN, married to Frank DAVIS, two daughters, Beulah and Avis, and his son Freel. He also has one sister living, Mrs. E. C. FRAME, of Springville, Illinois, whose husband is the Congregational minister of that city. John E. BRYAN was a man of high character, Bo peaty, and integrate. He was a jovial, genial and pleasant companion and faithful friend. He had no enemies. Everybody was his friend. He was a kind, indulgent father and husband, and his home was one of pleasure and completeness. To know him was to love him. His family is highly respected and of our best citizens. For several years he has no been in good health, but was always of a happy disposition, expecting the best. He made friends everywhere, and we know of no man who leaves a greater number of friends than John E. BRYAN. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the family residence conducted by S. P. MARSHALL, assisted by Rev. W. S. KUNKEL. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery.
