    1. [INGREENE] Greene County Marriage, Birth, and Death records
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: CaroleStClairGrant Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene/9814.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This website has birth, death and marriage records for Greene County posted online. The Bloomfield Library has a great genealogy section: http://www.bloomfield.lib.in.us/project1/ The information online is not detailed, but you will get the book and page number for the marriage. If you call the Health Department in Greene County, they may be able to tell you the name of the parents from the original books if the marriage occured after a certain date. I think marriage applications were required sometime in the 1890s. I may be wrong. When I was in Greene County this spring, I was told they were going to be microfilming the old books to preserve them because of the number of people requesting information was causing the books to deteriorate. I don't know if they started that project yet. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Unfortunately, the project to digitize the records has been temporarily derailed. The president of the Greene County Historical Society has driven away key members and contributors. She held an illegal election, changing the location of the election at the last minute, to install herself as president once again. The ill will caused by these actions has endangered the funding from the County and may require litigation to settle. The trust of the membership and the community has been violated and may be irreparable.
