(Jackie) SWANGO, a former resident of Owensburg, were conducted at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the Elmwood Chapel at the Day & Carter Funeral Home in Bedford. The Rev. Albert BRIDWELL was the officiating minister, and burial was made in the Owensburg Cemetery. Mr. SWANGO died early Monday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Roxie DIEHL, in Bloomington. He was born in Aurora on January 13, 1867, and was the son of Abraham and Pervilla (DILL) SWANGO. He would have been 92 years old on Wednesday. Most of his life had been spent in Owensburg and Oolitic, and he was an electrician before he retired. He was a 50-year member of the Oolitic Red Men Lodge and also a member of the Modern Woodmen of Oolitic. Mr. SWANGO’s wife, Cora Ellen (GRAHAM) SWANGO, to whom he was married in 1888, preceded him in death in 1921. Surviving are three sons, Glen SWANGO, of South Gate, California; Frank SWANGO, of Bedford, and Clarence SWANGO, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three daughters, Miss Lena SWANGO, of Bloomington; Mrs. Roxie DIEHL, of Bloomington, at whose home he died, and Mrs. Ruby HAVERTY, of Buffalo, Missouri; three sisters, Bertha PORTER, of Owensburg; Mrs. Ella FODDRILL, of Bedford, and Mrs. Grace HATFIELD, of Crawfordsville. Five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Dick SWANGO, of Owensburg, also survive.
