She was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania, July 12, 1835; aged sixty-three years eleven months and twenty-two days. Her parents, David and Sallie Messenger moved to Ohio when she was six years of age; thence moved to Indiana at the age of fifteen years. She was married to Henry Roach, March 19, 1851. Her companion died Feb. 1, 1897. Was born to them ten children, six boys and four girls, and three girls survive to mourn the loss of a loving mother. All reside in Greene county but John L. Roach, who resides in Jackson county, Indiana. Rachel Roach was a meber of the M.E. church for thirty years, after which she united with the Church of God in 1886. She has been a faithful worker in the vineyard of the Lord and was until God, the Father called her away.
