[Transcribed on June 26, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Mrs. William C. ANDREWS, ninety-three years old, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. Z. BARKER, at Worthington last Saturday. A short time ago Mrs. ANDREWS fell and broke her hip. Pneumonia developed and caused her death. She is survived by three children, Mrs. BARKER and William C. ANDREWS, JR, of Worthington, and Mrs. Joseph HOUSUM, of Chicago. Mrs. ANDREWS celebrated her ninety-third birthday, September 19th. She was one of the oldest residents of this community. Her father, James STALCUP, owned the land which is now the east part of town. He had a cotton field where the business part of Worthington now stands. Mrs. ANDREWS was married in 1858 to William C. ANDREWS, who was the first president of the first bank in Worthington. He laid out the town and gave it the name of Worthington for his home town in Ohio. Due to his efforts in securing subscriptions and rights of way for the Indianapolis & Vincennes railroad. Mrs. ANDREWS was the first woman to ride on this road. Mrs. ANDREWS was a great friend of the late deceased, Mrs. Sarah WARNICK-DOBBINS, of this place.
