To Jim Bledsoe: Do you have The Bledsoe Family in America--research by the late Banks McLaurin, Jr.? I'm a descendant of Juda (Judy) Bledsoe McCoy via my grandfather Greenwood. Her brother John Bledsoe became guardian of her children after the death of their father, Elijah McCoy. John and Juda were the children of David Bledsoe and Elizabeth Graves Bledsoe. ( These lines are difficult because of duplication of names. Here are some of my old notes: John bledsoe m. Nancy Evans April 7, l839; David Bledsoe m. Rebecca Evans March 25, l849. The Bledsoe & Graves families are east Tennesseans, but Bledsoe contemporaries are in Greene, Sullivan, and Owen counties at an early time. David Bledsoe l794-l877? and Elizabeth Graves had: John b. l820, William b. l829; David b l83l; Mary b. l827, Judith or Juda (mine) b. l822. My note says John was b. in east Tennessee June 5, l820. I haven't looked at these files in several years and I do send a caveat that my Judah, Judy, Judith had an aunt by the same name as I recall.
