    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: ANDERSON, BURCHAM, EDWARDS, HODGES, LAWHEAD, MCLAUGHLIN Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4666 Message Board Post: THE BLOOMFIELD DEMOCRAT, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, June 12, 1912, Volume LI, Number 24, Page 1, Columns 4 & 5, “William Robert McLaughlin.” The subject to this memoir was born in Center township, Greene County, Indiana, March 13, 1856 and departed this life at his late home at this city, Monday morning June 10, 1912, age 56 years 2 months and 17 days. Robert, as he was familiarly known, was the eldest son of the family of eight children of Joseph and Margaret MCLAUGHLIN. Of this family there remain three of his sisters, Mrs. Riley EDWARDS of Smith township, and Mrs. Charles HODGES, of Ridge Farm, Illinois, and two brothers John, of our city and George of Nebraska. The father and mother and the remaining members of the family, in the years past, have gone before. Robert’s first marriage was to Adeline LAWHEAD, November 25th, 1875. Four children were born to this union, one of whom has preceded him to the better world. The surviving members are Dalton and Heston of Bloomfield, and Floe of David City, Nebraska. His second marriage was to Catherine BURCHAM who departed this life a few years later leaving one son Albert of Bloomfield. His third marriage was to Louise ANDERSON, August 5, 1891. No children were born to this union. Robert MCLAUGHLIN was the soul of goodness as is attested by his loved ones, and his large circle of friends. Charity never appealed to him in vain. There was no service within his power that he would not, and did not, grant to those that required or sought it. He will be missed by a large number of the farmers of this community with whom he transacted business in the purchase and selling of stock. These men who dealt with him ever held him in high regard as a man of absolute honor and honesty. Kindness marked his relation to his family and relatives. In his death there has come to them the loss of a good husband, a fond father and a dear friend. The community has lost a good and useful citizen. The sympathy of all who knew him goes out to the bereaved in their loss and sorrow. May the Good Father who ever is able and willing to bring consolations in our hours of trial, graciously remember this family and friends and deal with them in his watchless way, through his infinite mercy and love. May we all in kindest charity inter with his mortal remain this day whatever of faults he may have held in common with our poor humanity, and may we earnestly strive to retain in our loving remembrance his virtues to emulate them in our own living. The funeral was at the M. E. church by Rev. REIBOLD and Rev. MARSHALL. The remains were taken charge of by Bloomfield Lodge No. 457 I. O. O. F., conveyed to Grand View cemetery where the body was buried by the order. There was a large concourse of relatives and friend of which Mr. MCLAUGHLIN had many. So quickly ended the life of an active, honest and excellent citizen. – Resolutions – We, The Committee on whom was conferred the duty of preparing resolutions of respect and sympathy by Bloomfield Lodge, No. 457, I.
