He had been sick for three weeks. All that medical aid and loving hands could do was of no avail. His funeral was the largest ever held in Cincinnati, except that of Kenneth BURCH, the eleven-year old son of Mrs. Nora BURCH, who stepped off the school bus in front of a car and was killed four years ago. Mr. HUDSON’s funeral was conducted by Rev. Logan HATFIELD, of Owensburg. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Hobbieville, and this lodge officiated when he was laid to rest in the Rainbolt Cemetery beside his wife, who died thirteen years ago. The pallbearers were E. A. MEREDITH, N. R. HARDISTY, Theodore CARMICHAEL, Sam LODER, William SCOTT and one other whose name we failed to get. Flower bearers were his six granddaughters. Starling HUDSON spent nearly all his life in Center township and has been one of the outstanding and progressive citizens of the county. He was an honored and upright citizen, always fair with his neighbors, practicing the golden rule throughout his life. He is survived by the following children: Albert HUDSON, Avery HUDSON, Cyrus D. HUDSON, Joseph E. HUDSON, AND Mrs. Savada ARTHUR, all of Center township. A sister Mrs. John SHARR, of Center township, and a brother Calvin HUDSON, of Center township, also survive. — NOTES—RLJ: (1) INDEX TO MARRIAGE RECORDS IN GREENE COUNTY, INDIANA, 1939 WPA, Index Page 120: HUDSON, Starling to Mary Jane HUTCHINS, 24 Feb 1881, Book L, Page 153.
