HUDSON.” Death has again entered our midst and another home has been made sad and lonely and hearts are torn and bleeding and another link has been removed from the family circle of one of our highly respected citizens. Samuel HUDSON, the subject of this sketch, was the last of a family of eleven children born to David and Charlotte (LEWIS) HUDSON. He was born in Center Township, Greene County, Indiana, December 23, 1854, and died at his home near Robison, Indiana, March 5, 1935, aged eighty years, two months and twelve days. When about thirteen years of age he came with his parents to Jackson Township, locating near the place of his death, where he spent almost all of his life. He was married to Margaret YOCKEY, October 4, 1882. To this union eleven children were born, five dying in infancy. The remaining six, with their aged mother, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and devoted father and an affectionate husband. This long wedded life was one of peace and contentment, and for more than fifty-two years they walked hand in hand along life’s rugged pathway, sharing each other’s joys and sorrows, toiling in sunshine and rain, heat and cold, early and late, never giving up to discouragements and adverse circumstances of pioneer life, but pressing on with the determination to win. He not only provided a home for his own family but adopted an orphan girl who mourns his death the same as his own, and his aged father-in-law, and an aged widowed sister were tenderly cared for in their declining years. Mr. HUDSON united with the Methodist Church at Ashcraft Chapel approximately forty years ago. Lived a happy Christian experience for several years. We are told he drifted for a time from the path of righteousness but never lost his faith in his religious experience and like the prodigal son, he saw his mistake and said “I will return unto my father’s house.” He then affiliated with the Pentecost Church, remaining there until death. Mr. HUDSON had been in failing health for several years but was confined to his bed but a few days. His suffering was great but borne with Christian fortitude, and he expressed his readiness to go when the “Master calleth.” The writer has known him for almost half a century, and when as a clerk in a general store in which he was a regular customer always found him to be an honest upright man. He was a good neighbor, held in high esteem by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing his companion who is now in the twilight of her life, and evening bells are ringing and she, too, is waiting the call of the Master. Six children, namely, Asa, near Robison; Grover, Winchester; Midas, Koleen; Mrs. Ina MULLIS, Mineral; Mrs. Connie MCMILLAN, Newcastle; Mrs. Ed WHITE, Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Quince HOLMES (adopted daughter), of Hobbieville; fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. TUTTLE, of Linton, at the home Thursday at 1 p.m. and he was laid to rest in the Robinson Cemetery, in sight of the home where he spent almost all of his life. — To the neighbors and friends who so kindly helped us, and Undertaker LEHMAN for his efficient service and Rev. TUTTLE for his consoling words, the family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation. THE FAMILY. — NOTES—RLJ: DEATH RECORDS OF GREENE COUNTY, INDIANA, Health Department, E.
