Hi, I've got a Martin showing in the ancestry of my wife. Although she is not related to your Joseph H. Martin, I've accumulated a fair amount of Martin's in my program hoping to someday make a connection. Your Joseph H. Martin is Joseph Harold Martin, son of Joseph G. Martin and Emily and Emily Brooks. His marriage with Emily Brooks ended prior to July 1848, at which time she married Job Miller. Whether Joseph G. died or they divorced is unknown to me. The 1850 Census is shown below as shows in my notes: 1. 1850 Census, IN, Greene Co., Dist. 40, Pg. 302, Dwelling 324, Family 324 MILLER, Job 22 M Laborer b. IN Emily 23 F b. IN MARTIN, Joseph R. 3 M b. IN Although Joseph's middle initial is shown as an R. rather than a H., this is either an error of the census taker or in my transcription of the census. By 1860, Emily must have died because Job Miller married Elizabeth Lamb and they raised Joseph H. Martin until he married in 1866 as shown in the 1860 census below: 3. 1860 Census Jackson Twp., Greene Co., IN; LN 30; 22 AUG 1860, Dwelling 1593, family 1593 Jobe Miller, 33, farmer, TN Elizabeth, 23, NC Louisa, 10, NC Mary, 9, NC Lucy, 8, NC Edward, 7, NC Emily, 6, NC Martha, 2, NC Joseph Martin, 13, NC That's about all I've got in my program that I think would be of any interest to you. I'm searching for the ancestry of Jane Martin, b. Apr. 12, 1828 who married William Watkins on Sept. 13, 1849 in Beech Creek Twp., Greene Co. She was the daughter of Reuben Martin, b. abt. 1795 in NC or SC, and Jane Beasley, b. abt. 1798-1799 in KY. Reuben and Jane were m. on December 31, 1818 in Orange Co., IN and they are my brick wall. Hope the information included helps. Ron Demers ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
