    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: RobertLJackson29 Surnames: ALLEN, ASHCRAFT, BRUCE, CORBIN, DYE, RECORD Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene/9847/mb.ashx Message Board Post: THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, September 22, 1927, Volume LI, Number 46, Page 4, Columns 1 & 2, "NEWS OF COUNTY-ROBISON-Jackson Township." [Transcribed on December 10, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Iva ASHCRAFT, daughter of Martin and Margaret {ALLEN} ASHCRAFT, was born near Dresden, Greene County, Indiana, May 13, 1876. She was united in marriage to Odus CORBIN, September 24, 1897. To this union, five children were born, namely, Mrs. Delva WAGGONER, of Indianapolis; Lee CORBIN, of Elnora; Wayne CORBIN, at home, and two girls that died in infancy. Mrs. CORBIN was an obedient daughter, a loving sister, a kind mother, a faithful wife and companion. She was industrious and her life was one of service. She was a gentle, quite, modest, woman held in high esteem by all her acquaintances. To know her was to love her, and her death, has brought sadness to her large circle of friends. The writer remembers her as a sweet school girl and playmate, and has known her all her life and never heard her speak an unkind word. It is said by her loving sisters they never saw her angry and her devoted daughter testifies to the fact her mother never gave her an unkind word. She was a pure, noble woman and her life is an inspiration to all. Her children and friends rise up and call her "blessed." She had been in declining health for several months but her condition was never considered serious until about two weeks previous to her death. She was taken to St. Vincent Hospital at Indianapolis where she underwent a major operation with ! the hope of restoring her health, but to no avail. At 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning, September 10, surrounded by her family, her sweet spirit was peacefully wafted away to God. She leaves to mourn the loss her husband, three children, one grandchild, three sisters, Mrs. Armilda BRUCE, Mrs. Mary DYE and Mrs. Laura RECORD, and two brothers, Amos ASHCRAFT and Jesse ASHCRAFT, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was brought Sunday afternoon to the home of her sister, Mrs. Butler RECORD, and Monday followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends she was taken to ASHCRAFT Chapel where very impressive funeral services were conducted by Rev. Quince FERGUSON.
