Shertzer Dies at Home Here." [Transcribed on December 22, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Samuel B. SHERTZER, seventy-eight years old, widely known in Greene County as a druggist of Bloomfield, died Sunday night at his home on Seminary Street. He had been in failing health for the last few years and his condition had been serious for the last year or more. He was a painter and paper hanger by trade, but many years ago gave up his trade to become the proprietor of a drug store in Bloomfield, which he retained until a few years ago when he was compelled to give it up on account of declining health. He was one of the oldest members of the Knights of Pythias lodge and for half a century had been a member of the Bloomfield Presbyterian church. His entire life was spend in this community. Surviving besides the widow are three children, Carl SHERTZER, of Bloomington, Indiana, and Frieda and Winfield SHERTZER, at home; grandchildren: two sisters, Ida TRENT, of Worthington, Mrs. Maggie POPE, and a brother David SHERTZER, of Bellingham, Washington, and the following half-brothers, Walter, Reuben and Edwin SHERTZER, all of Bloomfield, and Theodore SHERTZER, of Bloomington, and two half-sisters, Huldah BUCKNER, of Linton, and Mrs. Josephine MILLER, Arthur, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted from the family residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were in charge of Rev. Jack MASTERS, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil, former pastor of the local Presbyterian Church, and burial took place in Grandview Cemetery. - 1880 US CENSUS OF GREENE COUNTY, INDIANA, Richland Township, Town of Bloomfield, Roll T9, Page 123C, Line 32: SHUTZER, Samuel (w, m, 21, Boarder, s, painter, IN, PA, PA) enumerated in John J.
