GRAFTON DIED AT BEDFORD-Aged Seventy-eight Years, and Was Born and Reared in this County, Near Scotland." [Transcribed on December 19, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Saturday, November 14, Bedford Mail contained the following account of the death of Mrs. Eliza A. GRAFTON, a former Greene County citizen. "Mrs. Eliza A. GRAFTON, one of Bedford's most highly esteemed women, passed away today at 11:25 a. m. from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur SPEAKE, after a period of failing health extending over a year. "Mrs. GRAFTON was born at Scotland, Indiana, November 12, 1853, and had reached seventy-eight years and two days in her span of life when the final summons came. Mrs. GRAFTON was the daughter of George and Polly (ALLEN) VEST. "She was united in marriage at Owensburg on December 14, 1873, to George J. GRAFTON, who passed away some years ago. "Surviving are the daughters, Mrs. Arthur SPEAKE and Mrs. Frank BRIDWELL, of this city; son, Frank GRAFTON, of Bedford; one granddaughter and three brothers, James M. VEST, of Worthington; Charles VEST, of Bloomfield, and John VEST of Los Angeles, California. "When twelve years of age Mrs. GRAFTON united with the Methodist church at Scotland and had since led a consistent Christian life, always serving her master with loyalty and love. Some twenty-five years ago she transferred her membership to the First Methodist church, this city, and retained membership until her death. "Funeral services were held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur SPEAKE, with Rev. C. S. BLACK in charge. Rev. Joel Lee Jones and Rev. W. James NIVEN assisted with the services. Interment in Green Hill Cemetery." Frank and Parmer VEST, of this place are nephews. Those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. James M.
