[Transcribed on December 1, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] The Bedford Mail of Friday June 5, had the following account regarding the death of a former Jackson Township citizen: "Daniel JACKSON, well known quarryman, passed away at his home in Avoca Wednesday, after a five month's illness. "Mr. JACKSON was born at Owensburg, May 16, 1864, making his age at the time of his passing sixty-seven years and twenty-seven days. He was the son of Jacob and Martha (ROLLINS) JACKSON. He was married in 1889 to Miss Eddie JOHNSON, who passed away thirty-four years ago. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Dora Ella FERGUSON, who survives. Other surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Fannie PRICE, of Indian Springs, and son of Solsberry, by a first marriage; a step son, Verne FERGUSON, of Clay City; thirteen grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nancy SIMPSON, of Owensburg, and two brothers, Peter and Andrew JACKSON, of Owensburg. Mr. JACKSON had been a quarry worker for forty-seven years and was last employed as a machine runner in the quarries. He was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church, K. of P. Lodge at Bedford and Red Men at Oolitic. Funeral services were held from the home at Avoca Friday, June 5, at 9:30 a.m., and at the close of the service the funeral party left for Owensburg, where services were held at the Christian church at 11 a.m., with Rev. DYKES in charge, assisted by Rev. J. L. HATFIELD. A quartet composed of Ott SEXSON, Hovey CORBIN, Armilla LACKEY and Bitha PORTER, sang three songs.
