[Transcribed on December 19, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] William Riley CARRELL, youngest son of James and Nettie CARRELL, was born February 26, 1852, and departed this life at 7:15 p.m. December 11, 1931, aged seventy-nine years, nine months and fifteen days. He was the last of a family of nine. He was born and reared in Greene County, where he spent his entire life. After the death of his parents he made his home, until his marriage, with his brother and wife, Ben and Catherine CARRELL, the latter of whom survives. He was united in marriage to Emily TIMMONS on March 9, 1884. To this union were born nine children, six of these preceding him in death, two in infancy, William Henry at the age of six months, Archie, aged eight years, Rosa, aged sixteen years, Frank, aged twenty-six years. His wife and companion passed away six years ago last November; after this he mad his home in and near Bloomfield with his son, Albert. He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sam TERRELL, of near Furnace, and Mrs. Samuel POFFENBARGER, of Anderson. A granddaughter, Mrs. Wayne HUNTER, of this city, whom he reared from childhood, two other grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Because of his cheerful disposition and pleasant home life everyone who knew him felt welcome in his home and enjoyed being there. He had a smile and a kind word for all, even through his failing health of the past year and until his death. Although not a member of any church he was a firm believer in God and Christianity. The funeral was held from the Furnace Christian Church Sunday afternoon at 23:30 o'clock, and was conducted by Rev. A. L. TIDRICK, pastor of the Bloomfield Baptist Church. The church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends. - Link to the Obituary of his wife, Emily (TIMMONS) CARRELL [1869IN-1920IN]: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene/4197/mb.ashx Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
