Karen, I have info on some of the Burks you are talking about, my Grandmother Stella Ethel BURKS m. Virgil F. NOEL is from this line , as Edmon/Edmund BURKS was her grandfather. I have some info on Edmund and his second marriage, it was to Hannah Johnson, as she had been married before she married to Edmund: JOHNSON, Hannah to WILBER, Joseph.....20 Feb 1851.....BkE, pg 242 .......Greene Co.IN. #1 BURKS, Edmon to WILBEIR, Hannah.........17 Apr 1870......BkH, pg 430........Greene Co.IN. #2 I also have the Mary that Edmund married was a Mary A. Minks [a widow} but I'm not sure about her being a BURKS originally?? I didn't have much info on William BURKS, only that he had married a Mary C. Lewis, but when I check the census records for a William BURKS......the wife listed was a Sarah, but I find no daughter named Mary for them?? I'm interested in what else you might have on them as well. I don't have information on where Edmund or Sarah or his other wives are buried. Possibly someone on the list might be able to look that up: Edmund/Edmond Burks d. 4 Mar 1890 Sarah Gwin Burks d. 25 Aug 1869 Hannah Johnson Burks d. ? Mary Burks d. ? Looking forward to hearing from you. N.J. ..........................................original message....................... I am researching the parents of Matilda Catherine Burks b. 1841 that married James H. Dyer. I find that her parents were Edmond/Edmund Burks b. abt 1818 in Mercer Co., KY and Sarah Gwin. Sarah died in1869 and Edmond remarried Hannah Wilbier. They divorced. >From the 1880 census it appears that he married Mary Burks - his brother's daughter. They are living with William Burks and he is shown as father-in-law. Mary had previously been married to a Minks and had a daughter Jane age 11. So, it seems his brother brother was also his father-in-law!!! Is anyone familiar with this family? I would like to try to obtain a photo of Edmond and Sarah's gravemarkers if I can find where they are. Hope to hear from someone!
