    1. [INGREENE] Greene County Estate Records
    2. Sam Cline
    3. During the 60th decade of the 20th century there was a massive collection of estate records housed in the Greene County Clerk's office. Does anyone know what the disposition of those records is today, the first decade of the 21st century? I am interested in being able to do some research of the records. My initial interest is Box 268, Phenis Palmer Estate, John W. Wolford, Administrator. I'm not asking anyone to do the research for me, I'm only interested, at this time, in knowing if they are available. The 1960's was the last time I had the time to do any research in Greene County. At that time I and my copier; a pad of paper, a pencil, and me; didn't make much headway into the wealth of historical/genealogical information that was stored there. Thanks for any information anyone might be able to give me.

Squire and Clarissa were my great-grandmother's maternal grandparents, which is taking it back aways, so to speak, and she lost both of her parents before the age of six. So, no family stories to pass down. My grandmother remembers Grandma Meredith quite well, but, apparently, noone thought it important to relay that kind of information. As to how Nathaniel, or Squire, ended up where they did, I believe it was because they had family in the area. According to the 1830 census, several Meredith families lived in Coshocton County. And our Merediths aren't the only ones in Greene County. Do you know anything about a John Luff Meredith, born 1855 in Ohio, or his father, John T., born 1811 in Virginia?? I'm almost positive the entire Meredith population is related, but unitl I found out who Nathaniel's parents were, it's hopeless. I feel your pain. It is *so* maddening to be able to get thus far, and no further. Such a horrible feeling of disconnectedness..... :) Lavonne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: RobertLJackson29 Surnames: FANKBONNER, KISER, MADDOX, MORRISON, PAGE Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene/9905/mb.ashx Message Board Post: THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, October 2, 1930, Volume LIV, Number 48, Page 5, Column 1, "DEATH'S HARVEST." [Transcribed on January 31, 2008 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Sylvia KISER, daughter of Jesse and Elvira PAGE, was born in Allen {County}, Kansas, on December 20, 1888, and departed this life September 25, aged forty-one years, nine months and six days. Her parents moved to Indiana when she was about a year old. Her childhood was spent around Lyons. The family later moved to near Worthington. On October 6, 1912, she was united in marriage to Clifford KISER. To this union were born eight children, one having preceded the mother in death. Although Sylvia never united with any church, she was converted during her sickness, and all her thoughts turned toward religion and saving people. The life she lived and her attitude toward death in her last days is a good Christian example to her family and neighborhood. Our loss has been heaven's gain. Great is the rejoicing in heaven when one more soul has come home. Sylvia was a kind and loving mother, always having the interest of her children at heart. She is survived by her husband and seven children, Paul, Helen, Mary, Margueritte, Gladys, Jessie and Jeanette; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Page, near Worthington, and Miss Zelma, at home; four brothers, Otha, of Santa Ana, California; Orphus, of Park; Elmer and Denzel, at home, besides a host of friends and other relatives. Her early school days were spent at Old Clifty and her loving kindness toward all her schoolmates was unsurpassed and the love manifested is still held dear by the few that remain. - We desire to extend our thanks to our neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and after the death of our beloved wife and mother. [Transcribed on January 31, 2008 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Thomas J. OWEN, eldest son of Wilson and Lucinda (MILLER) OWEN, was born in Highland Township, Greene County, Indiana, April 13, 1848, and departed this life at the Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis, where he had been for some time for treatment, February 18, 1921, aged seventy-two years, ten months and five days. With the exception of a few years he passed his entire life upon the farm of his birth. In October of 1874, he was united in marriage with Priscilla CHIPMAN. To this union fourteen children were born, four of whom preceded the father to that far away home. Those who remain, besides the widow, to mourn his going are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. May LEE, of Indianapolis; Leonard N., of Oakland, California; Willard F., of Bloomfield; Hugh M., of Indianapolis; Mrs. Mary L. QUILLEN, of Bloomfield; Miss Violet OWEN and Mrs. Amy O. JOLIFFE, of Indianapolis, and Thurman A., at home, and Mrs. Gwen PRICE, of Lockland, Ohio, and Mrs. Nettie CRAYTON, of Mooresville. Three brothers and one sister remain to share their sorrow. They are David A., of Franklin; Benjamin T. and Joseph A., of Highland Township, and Mrs. Nancy E. BUCHER, also of Highland Township. There were also born from this union ten grandchildren, eight of whom still remain. All of the children and grandchildren and brothers and sister with the exception of one son and one grandchild were present at the last sad rites to which all the people of God's earth must bow to. What more beautiful, touching, soul inspiring sight to see than that of three gray-haired brothers and three stalwart sons tenderly and with reverence carrying the casket containing the last earthly remains of brother and father. The funeral services were held at the Union Valley church Sunday afternoon, February 20, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. A. C. TRUSTY, of the Worthington Christian church. After the services the remains were taken to the Bucher Cemetery and laid to rest beside that of his departed children. And the Lord sayeth, "dust thou art and to dust thou returneth." - WE desire to sincerely thank al the neighbors and friends for their many acts of kindness, sympathy and assistance during the last sad rites of husband, brother and father. Dianah "Juriah" Allsup/Allsop Livingston. Through the efforts of Jeff Russell who descends through Robert's son Henry, he is trying to get a Gov't. headstone issued to Robert Livingston since he serviced his country during the War of 1812. We know that Robert is buried at the old Andrew Miller Livingston Cemetery [Beech Creek Twp., of Greene County IN] in an unmarked grave and thought it fitting that he finally gets a headstone. This Cemetery is located on the Old Livingston Homestead property. We are in the planning stages of having a Livingston Reunion and Dedication of Robert's headstone sometime either this spring or summer. It is our hope that many of you will be able to attend this family event. As more information becomes available as to when and where, I will get back to all of you. Please let me know if you would be interested in attending this event and please feel free to pass this along to others in the family you know that you think would like to attend also. (If she could, wouldn't she be amazed at how many generations of descendants carried her maiden name!)Joshua himself being the son of Robert Meredith, Sr. & wife, Elizabeth. My line comes down through Joshua's brother, Robert Meredith, Jr. Yes, part of that Meredith family went to Virginia (now West Virginia) and many went on then to Ohio, Indiana, and my Meredith line ended up in Harrison County, Missouri. Soooo, we've got a fairly reasonable idea from which couple Squire descended, but NOT how he got to where he was. ha. Lordy, I hate to have so much info about a family and not know where to put it. :) Does anybody have any ideas about who Nathaniel Luff Meredith's father was? Thanks again, Pat. I've been beating my head against that particular brick wall for some time now. Can't say that I recommend it. :) Okay, Squire's parents were Nathaniel and Catherine Meredith. As far as I've been able to find out, they drifted over to Coshocton County Ohio from Virginia (1850 census) in the mid 1830's. I do know that he aquired land there in 1835 and 1838. (Ohio land records) He and Catherine are buried in the Tiverton Cemetery. His DOD is listed as 2/9/1877, hers, 8/14/1877. (from the Coshocton County website and cemetery project) Here's where it gets fun, according to the Tiverton Cemetery records,Nathaniel's middle name was "Luff". Catherine's maiden is given as, possibly, "Connors". I found a record in Virginia marriages, 1740-1850 of a Junior Meredith and Catherine Ellis, Monroe County, Virginia, (now part of West Virginia), DOM was 12/28/1824. Right time frame, was it them? Who knows. Also, there existed a Luff Meredith,(18th century), and his many descendents up in Delaware, some of whom moved to Virginia. I have no idea if this is a family connection, but one has to admit that Luff" Meredith isn't exactly a common name. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to confirm anything prior to 1835. Happy hunting, Lavonne Cook Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They were m. Jan. 1, 1902 in Bloomfield, IN. They were my husbands Grandparents, we were told they got this when they went to housekeeping in 1902. On the bottom of the cabinet it is writen in black that it was made by the Simm Brothers, Newberry, Indiana. Does anyone know if they had a store, or if they just built things for a living. If they had a store does anyone know when, where & for how long? We were in Newberry a while back but could not find anyone who could remember. 1. [INGREENE] Robert Livingston b. 1786 VA....Reunion and Headstone Dedication
    2. Good afternoon everyone, I'm sending this email out in the hopes of reaching all the descendants of Robert Livingston b. 1785 VA m.
