Bryan Passes Away At His Home in Bloomfield Last Friday.” John E. BRYAN is dead, having passed away at his residence, East Main Street, Bloomfield, at 4:00 P. M. March 1, 1912. Mr. BRYAN was born at Winterset, Iowa, September 7, 1858. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward BRYAN. His father and mother lived in Greene County and his mother was on a visit to Iowa when Mr. BRYAN was born. He was reared and brought up near Solsberry this county, and attended the common school at Solsberry, and afterward attended college at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio. He entered the mercantile business with his brother Freel BRYAN at Solsberry, and soon afterward was married, on New Years’ eve, December 31, 1880, to Miss Ida FRAME. He and his brother continued the mercantile business for some years, and Mr. BRYAN then purchased his brother’s interest, and finally sold out and moved to Bloomfield with his family in January 1888. He entered the store of Hert & Graham with whom he was associated got a number of years; afterward en! tering the real estate business and particularly dealing in swamp lands, in which business he was very successful. He was a member of Accolade Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Bloomfield, and of the Elks Lodge at Bloomington, Indiana. He left surviving him widow, Ida BRYAN, daughter Grace BRYAN, married to Frank DAVIS, two daughters, Beulah and Avis, and his son Freel. He also has one sister living, Mrs. E. C. FRAME, of Springville, Illinois, whose husband is the Congregational minister of that city. John E. BRYAN was a man of high character, Bo peaty, and integrate. He was a jovial, genial and pleasant companion and faithful friend. He had no enemies. Everybody was his friend. He was a kind, indulgent father and husband, and his home was one of pleasure and completeness. To know him was to love him. His family is highly respected and of our best citizens. For several years he has no been in good health, but was always of a happy disposition, expecting the best. He made friends everywhere, and we know of no man who leaves a greater number of friends than John E. BRYAN. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the family residence conducted by S. P. MARSHALL, assisted by Rev. W. S. KUNKEL. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery. He died on that day or within 21 days. Henry SKINNER and Mike CADE were witnesses. I think that there ought to be an article in the newspaper. Ephraim was a gunsmith in or near Switz City. If you go to this site: Lamar County Texas Cemeteries , and pull up Richey, you will find many of the Richeys and their offspring there. Particularly look at William Richey, Andrew Jackson Richey and Barney Richey. There are stories fot the trip from Indiana to Texas, and what they did after arriving in Texas.

Death followed an illness of nine months from a complication of diseases and was expected. Mr. OWEN was born at Scotland, Greene County, November 25, 1839, and moved to Washington in 1910, from Newberry. He is survived by his second wife, and eight children—Charles OWEN, Victor , of Mississippi; Mrs. Lank WESNER and James OWEN of Newberry; Mrs. Lillie COURTNEY, of Linton; Mrs. Edward BROOKSHIRE, of Henrietta, Oklahoma; Clay OWEN of Bicknell; Norma Gertrude OWEN and John Dwight OWEN of this city. BURKS...b.17 Dec 1844 d. 15 Nov 1928 buried Liberty Cemetery........Cemetery records listed him as John T. BURKS.....and I believed that this was the husband of Sarilda "Sarah" Ann SKINNER Burks also buried at Liberty Cemtery listed as Shrilda A. BURKS b. 2 Mar 1842 d. 14 Feb 1912. What I rec'd was a cert for John L. BURKS......dod and cemetery listed as the same......Here is the Puzzler....his parents were listed as: Joseph BURKS and Lousia SANTIFER......now in my Burks family data I have a Louisa SANDIFER m.
