BORTER departed this life, August 25, 1917, at her home near Newberry. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad DORRIS and was born in Bloomfield, July 14, 1874, therefore being forty-three years, one month, and eleven days of age when called to her reward. On November 15, 1892 she became the wife of Abraham BORTER. This date marked the beginning of a happy married life of more than fifteen years, which ended at the death of her husband, September 3, 1909. She was the mother of five children, two daughters and three sons, all of whom are living. She accepted the Saviour and obeyed the gospel in her youth and was a Christian until her death. She always tried to do what was right and was willing to do anything for the good of others or the community. She was cheerful, industrious, honest and upright, and made friends wherever she went. She was a devoted mother and her sudden transition to a higher life was a shock. Her life was one worthy of emulation and will be cherished by her many friends and relatives. But now here earthly career is ended and the Master has said, “It is enough, come up higher.” She leaves a mother, two daughters, two brothers, one half-sister, one half-brother, one grandchild and many relatives and friends. The children have the sympathy of all who know them. But thanks be to God for the assurance that all things work together for good to them who love the Lord. The funeral services were conducted by Elder J. A. SPENCER, of Sandborn, on Monday of last week at the Antioch Church. Interment in the churchyard cemetery. — We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to all who so kindly assisted us during the sickness, and after the death and at burial of our dearly beloved mother and daughter.
