    1. [INGREENE] Greene County Cemetaries
    2. P.J. Dehoog
    3. I've just returned from Indiana. I was going to go to the Fort Wayne Library but changed my mind and went to Greene County. I wasn't completely prepared since it was a last minute change of plans but I was able to pick up some useful information that I am willing to share. I picked up a copy of "Cemeteries of Eastern Greene County Indiana". I will do look ups in Beech Creek Township, Cass Township, Center Township, Highland Township, Jackson Township, Richland Township, and Taylor Township.

Surnames: BRADFORD Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4538 Message Board Post: THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Friday, March 1, 1895, Volume XIX, Number 13, Page 8, Columns 2, “FROM ‘ROUND ABOUT. –LYONS.” [Transcribed 18 May 2002 from THE original newspaper on file in the Office of The Recorder of Greene County.] Samuel BRADFORD, living west of Lyons, had a little child die of heart disease, Sunday. It was taken four miles above Bloomfield for burial, Monday. — THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Friday, March 1, 1895, Volume XIX, Number 13, Page 8, Columns 5, “Two Corpses in One Hearse.” On last Monday Undertaker John DAVIDSON, of Lyons, brought through here the dead bodies of two little boys—one the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles OGG, of Lyons, who died last Sunday of whooping cough. The remains were taken to Solsberry cemetery for interment. The other was the five-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel {L.} BRADFORD, of Washington Township. The remains were interred in the Bethel Cemetery. These are good people and we deeply sympathize with them in their sad bereavement. But there is one grand consolation—the little boys have gone home to be with Him who said: “Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.” — NOTES—RLJ: CEMETERIES OF EASTERN GREENE COUNTY, INDIANA, 1994, G.C.H.S., Union Bethel Cemetery, Page 160, Column 2: BRADFORD, Harvey, s/o S. He was born in Sumner County, Tennessee, October 1, 1818. At the age of three weeks his parents, James and Margaret STALCUP, so long known and so greatly respected in Greene County, started with him to Indiana. The crossed the Ohio River at Yellow Banks, now Owensboro, Kentucky, and came by Vincennes to where Worthington now is; later to where Henry BOOZE now lives, in Highland Township; after that to STALCUP-bottom, that “garden spot” of the county where all the rest of Isaac’s long life was passed. The strong, hardy quality of “honest man” that ornamented the STALCUP family was his leading trait. To stay with and mind his own business occupied his entire time. The grand-parents, who from 1817 lived in the neighborhood, as well as many relatives who formed a very powerful connection with the great majority of the later generations, have passed eternity. Old ! friends, we must soon meet there on the other shore. W. D.
