    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4558.2 Message Board Post: Leah, Try the Worthington Library, they should have a copy of all the cemetry records published by the Historical Soc. Be sure to ask for a copy of the old cemetery listing at the Worthington Cem. There is a cemetery at Point Commerce, on Marcus Hays property, not sure what has happened to the property or even where it is located, he refused to let people back there for fear of liable suits, but he has since passed away. As for local assistance you won't get any. If Worthington Library can't help, go on over to Blomfield and try their Library.

    2. Some wedded bliss turns sour. How do you find divorce records for our county? I have a Marion F THOMAS who was married Aug 28, 1897 to Mary PATE. He supposedly divorced her and married Alice Catherine PETTIT from Indianapolis. I cannot find any record of the divorce or the second marriage. Alice is buried beside him and "in stone" carries the THOMAS name. What makes this even more confusing is that Mary PATE was first married to Wylie R ANDERSON in 1892. When she died in the 1960's she was buried as ANDERSON? Another twist? She had two children by THOMAS whom he raised. BE NICE. She was my great grandma. :) Could someone please help me unravel this mystery? CJ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BENHAM/

Surnames: SHEPHERD, STALCUP, STRAUSER Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4562 Message Board Post: THE BLOOMFIELD DEMOCRAT, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Tuesday May 2, 1917, Volume LVI, Number 43, Page 2, Column 2, “OBITUARY—STRAUSER.” [Transcribed 1 June 2002 from Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library’s IHS Microfilm Records.] Otney Aliene STRAUSER, the oldest daughter of James F. and Arlie G. {SHEPHERD} STRAUSER, was born in Greene County, April 12th, 1896, and departed this life at her home in Washington Township, May 8th, 1917, at the age of twenty-one years and twenty-six days. She had undergone an operation at Indianapolis for appendicitis over two months ago, this and a complication of diseases caused her death. Her father had preceded her to the better land almost fourteen years ago. She united with the M. E. Church at Prairie Chapel under the pastorate of Rev. BARRETT, March 4th, 1913 and had lived a faithful and devoted Christian life until the Lord called her from the church militant to the church triumphant. She was a teacher in the Sunday school and served as organist for three years. During her long illness she suffered intensely but was very patient, kind and considerate for those about her. She was ever hopeful of her recovery—youth clinging to life as doth the rose to the stem, only to wilt on earth and bloom in Heaven—She was a loving daughter and a kind and affectionate sister. To know her was to love her. Her friends were many. She was universally beloved and the community will sadly miss her. Besides her mother, she leaves a devoted stepfather, L. E. STALCUP; two sisters, a brother and two half sisters, namely Lenora, Aubrey, Raymond, Grace and Helen, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. F. DYER, assisted by the Rev. GOLDMAN at Prairie Chapel, Thursday afternoon, May 10th, after which the body was laid to rest in the cemetery near by. The large concourse of friends and neighbors in attendance at the funeral was evidence of the high esteem in which she was held. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The pall-bearers were Mrs. H. C. MEREDITH, of Koleen, Mrs. Minnie STRAUSER, of Bloomfield, Mrs. Dencil SHEPHERD, Mrs. Delbert SHEPHERD and Misses Lenora and Aubrey STRAUSER {STALCUP?}. — Link to the Obituary of her maternal Grandfather, Leonidus Bennett SHEPHERD [1852OH-1918IN]: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene&m=3188

I now know that Harrison Weatherman did not marry Nancy Jane PITTS as her last name was PHIPPS. Harrison Weatherman's father, William Weatherman born 1808 did indeed marry (second wife) Mary PITTS, born 1808 and died after 1886. She was born in Virginia and was last heard from near Coffee, Clay County, Indiana. William had older brother named James and he could well have married a sister of Mary Pitts.

So far the "only" information I have on her is census info 1850: still living with her parents in Beech Creek Twp.,Greene Co.IN and then after her parents died I found her living with her nephew William LIVINGSTON b. 1833 Gr.Co.IN, who is the s/o brother Henry LIVINGSTON b. 1810 Knox Co.KY. That is where my info on her stops.......I thought perhaps she finally married, but so far have not been successful in finding a marriage record for her in surrounding counties, nor do I find her buried in Greene Co.IN. If anyone has any info on her I would be interested in it and would be glad to share any family info I have so far. thanks so much, N.J.Skinner White vwhite0901@aol.com "Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past." It shows they immigrated to the U.S. in 1908 and Leon was naturalized in 1919. Louisa shows to be a naturalized citizen but gives no year of such. Their children listed are: John, Albert, and Mildred, all born Indiana. Also listed on 1920 is Cyprien Fraser, age 44, born France, immigrated to the U.S. in 1905 and naturalized in 1919. His wife was Josphine Henry. Found her maiden name through the birth records of Greene County, Indiana. Also there is a Joseph Frayser, age 23, born France, living in Linton Township of Greene county. Looks to me like Cyprien and Leon are probably brothers who married Henry sisters, in France before coming to the U.S. Cyprien and Josephine are also buried in Fairview cemetery. Since stones for Leon and Louisa give their marriage date as 14 June 1908, probably didn't leave France until after that date. Sending to Indianapolis for the naturallzation papers might be of help to you. This isn't any of my family, just try to help others when possible. Judy
