Samuel & Mary Polly both are enumerated in the 1850 & 1860 Greene Co. census in Taylor Twp. In 1870 Samuel is enumerated with a Mary of age 42 and birth state of Ohio. So there is at least the possiblity that Mary Polly died between 1860-1870 & Samuel remarried.

CURTIS WELTON BY GIRL FRIENDS At the Home of Miss Wadsworth...Decorations in Keeping with Hallow E'en. On Monday evening, the Misses Madeline Hampton, Leoma Griffith, Verge Wadsworth and Mrs. Andrew Humphreys, entertained at the home of Miss Wadsworth with a miscellaneous shower in honor of the bride Mrs. Curtis Welton. The decorations were in keeping with Hallowe'en, the rooms being lighted with jack-o'-lanterns, each light on the chandlier being covered with small pumpkin faces, and on either corner of the piano was a large pumpkin with the initials E.F. and C.W. cut in them. After each guest had arrived they were given the name of an animal and long sticks of white chewing gum and were given ten minutes to chew the gum and mould the animal named. Mrs. Chas. Martin received the prize, the animal being a beaver which was moulded almost perfect. In another contest the guests were given numbers and as their number was called they were to go to the bedroom, unpack a suit case containing a "Charlie Chaplain" hat, a cane, monocule and coat and dress in them and walk through the rooms and back and repack the suit case. This proved to be very amusing. Mis Doris East, accomplishing this in twenty-five seconds which was the shortest time was given the prize. Refreshments of brick cream, cake and coffee were served. The favors were tiny boxes filled with candy with tiny skeletons standing on the box. The one the bride received contained the following note, "Tis Hallowe'en, this goblin tells you careful be what you are about, there are many little secrets hidden which you should be finding out," which secrets the bride found hidden all over the house. The guests were Mesdames Earl White, Chas. Maartin, John Hummel, Lloyd Hays, Curtis Welton, Moore McIntosh, Misses, Helen Hampton, Doris East, Mary Cushman, Naomi Cooper, Myra Brouillette, Helen Wadsworth, Grace Throneburg, Edna Turner, Neila Jean, Marguerite Hays and Maude Delbridge, of Linton Indiana.

    1. [INGREENE] Mary P. ANDERSON
    2. Taken from clipping printed in Evening World, Bloomfield Indiana. Mary P. ANDERSON, resident of Newberry, died at 5:29pm Friday at the residence of her daugher on Lyons rural route. She was 88 years of age, having celebrated her latest birthday this month. Born in Martin County, November 15, 1875, she was the daughter of William and Francis PATE. Preceding her in death was her husband, John ANDERSON. Mrs. ANDERSON was a member of the Mt Nebo EUB Church. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Gladys BENHAM; a brother Charles D. PATE of Bargersville, IN; step-children, John ANDERSON of Sandborn, IN; Mrs. Mae Shaffer of Freelandville, IN; Mrs Pearl Hensley of Dugger, IN; Mrs Hazel Cunningham of Bloomington, IN; three grand children; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm in Newberry Methodist Church. Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. It should be noted that this was apparently, at least, her third husband. 1) Wylie ANDERSON who died; 2) Marion Floyd THOMAS who she divorced. Have not found any documentation of this third marriage to John except for this clipping, of which I have the original hard copy. Just one more little piece of the puzzel. Anyone help add more?
