Did your Bulters live near Dugger in Gambill? As far as I know, Robert Butler is my GW's father, but we can't find Robert before or after the 1850 census. He's not buried with his wife (Elizabeth) at Samaria Cemetary. I just think it's a big coincidence that you have a GW Butler in your line too. Do you have birth and death dates on him?

As a youngster I hunted rabbits in the area of Samaria. At the time some 50 yeas ago there was another smaller and unkept cemetary in a bunch of trees across a small road and west of the church not far into the trees. I know that later the trees were harvested but dont know if the stones survived. Anyone that is interested and goes to the site should check this out.

My line goes through Norman Butler (father) Cecil Butler (grandfather) George W. Butler (ggrand) Robert Butler (gggrandfather). I'm stuck at Robert. I can't locate him before the 1850 census. George W.'s siblings (born in the mid 1800's) were: Robert J, Matilda, Sarah, Melissa, Myrna, Alvinia, James, and Martha E. Maybe your line goes through one of them. Several of my Butlers are buried at Samaria cemetary. We first found the cemetary about 5 -6 years ago. We had heard of an old cemetary filled with early pioneers back in the woods, but thankfully this old cemetary is by the roadway next to the church.

The cemetary is there in the church yard. My Butler and Kelley ancestors are buried there.
