    2. Colleen Pustola
    3. Hi everyone, It occurred to me only today (I've been sleeping...) that you're all sitting out there bored... nothing to do... :) CHALLENGE TIME! The weather is warm... a good time to be out and about, traveling even. This would be a good time to tell all of us about your ancestors who moved from one place to another. Did any of your ancestors take the Oregon Trail, or ANY migration route? If so, what's their story? Even if they weren't one of the overlanders, did they move? Spread the word about those pioneering ancestors and BE PROUD of them! :) Also, I realized I neglected our July babies! If you're one of Cancer's/early Leo's children, the family and I would like to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :) I wish you all just a SUPER Sunday! :) Colleen

Co. 2 Battery Regiment of Indiana Volunteers 30 Nov 1864 to 3 July 1865 I still have his Civil War Canteen. What I am wondering is if I have my information correct here. Both copies of his discharge papers are so hard to decipher. Thanks! Sarah

One thing I have learned in doing research for veterans, especially Civil War veterans, is that most of the men who were not claimed by their families and brought home, are buried in A National Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the State where they were killed or died. The State Archives from which a veteran served will have that information as to his place of burial. For a minimal fee they will research that for you. As an example, my Nicholis Jackson Beck died of complications from a forearm wound and amputation. He was wounded at The Battle of Jackson, Mississippi. He was buried on the Messenger Plantation and reinterred later at the Vicksburg National Memorial Veterans Cemetery in vicksburg, Mississippi. Ruth

Surnames: ROWE ROW ROE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4552.2.1 Message Board Post: I was in Bloomfield a few weeks ago doing some research. There are several Row/Rowe/Roe men from the Greene County area that served in the Civil War who are not listed in the historical records maintained by the library. I have found David's brother John, who is my gggrandfather. John lived in Greene County but died in KY in 1862 at Camp Wickliffe. He most likely is buried at that camp due to the epidemics at that time. John left a widow with 3 very young children. Martin Rowe is from the same area but I have not been able to locate him. Benjamin Rowe, a half-brother to John and David, died in the war at age 18 and I don't think he was returned home either. Thanks for your response. Every tidbit helps in this research.

I looked for Rowe and found two. No Row listings. Rowe, Charley born 30 Oct 1893; died 4 Jul 1933; Buried Lebanon Cemetery, Wright Twp., Grave No 3, Lot W1/2 268; Served World War I Rowe, David, born 7 Feb 1840; Buried Arthur Cemetery, Beechcreek Twp., Grave No 4, Lot 71, Served Co. D, 50th Reg., Indiana Infantry. From the date of birth of David, I would think he served in the Civil War. I would check into Lookups on the Greene County, Indiana website and have someone check the volumes for Rowe surname burials. There are probably other family members buried with David and Charley. Will be happy to do lookups for other surnames for Veterans buried in Greene County, Indiana. Hope this has helped a little bit. Ruth
