    1. [INGREENE] Elizabeth COOPER b. 1820 SC m. Robert F. LIVINGSTON b. ca1824 KY
    2. My GGgrandmother was Elizabeth COOPER b. 15 Sep 1820 SC.......I do not have any idea who Elizabeth's parents were?? She married Robert F. LIVINGSTON b. ca1824 KY, in Greene Co.IN 4 Sep 1844. Elizabeth and Robert had 6 children. But Elizabeth and Robert both died 1861 and 1863 respectfully. Their children were farmed out to others, none being a COOPER family. I have not been able to connect her to any of the many COOPER families that settled in Monroe, Owen or Greene Co's in IN......the area in which she lived Beech Creek Twp. was located near the area where these three counties connected. From census records, I believe it possible that she might have lived prior to her marriage with relatives, but not her parents?? Only I do not have any real proof of this. I believe that there may be a connection to the Isaac COOPER family that lived in Greene Co., but so far I have not found any concrete proof of that connection. I believe that she might have been a daughter or a neice of his.....his wife's name was Acenthia and Elizabeth named one of her daughters that name also. If you have COOPER ancestors from SC [or elsewhere] that ended up in Greene Co, Monroe or Owen Co's in IN.......do you have a female that might have fit her age in that family on the 1840 census?? You might want to write the State Archives in Indiana and request xeroxed copies of the Muster Roll Cards for William L. Ask for both Co & Reg's for him. Those are easy to read and will verify for sure the outfits he served with and when he was enlisted and discharged, where and by whom. Regimental Histories sometimes have some of the information as to where these outfits saw service. Good luck with your research. Ruth

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4629.1 Message Board Post: I have noticed similar Greene Co., enlistments in the same company, particularly in the Indiana 97th & 32nd. Vol Inf. They each contain groups of friends & relative [brothers-in-law, cousins] in the same company. Company C of the 43rd was organized by Elijah Edington of Jackson Twp., Greene Co. [see http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene&m=2840 ], so having a number of men from Greene Co. makes some sense. The regiment roster shows 4 Ashcrafts, 6 Burchams, 4 Hardestys, etc. in Company C. Some of these are definitely Greene Co. men and the others are possible/probable. The National Park Service's Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System [ http://www.civilwar.nps.gov/cwss/index.html ]has a large amount of data on those who served in the Civil War. It does not a have a lot of detail on each soldier/sailor, but it does give very basic info [state, first & last names, Company, rank in and rank out], plus you can download the complete roster of each of the regiments.

Timmons was in the listed unit and that he was captured in April 1864 at the Battle of Marks Mill, Arkansas along with nearly 2,000 other union soldiers. He remained a prisoner of war until exchanged in 1865. Many of the men from this battle were sent to Camp Ford, Texas for prison. As I have check for additional information I have learned many men in this Company were from Greene County. I have only scratched the surface and have located the following: Carey Fuller, David Fuller, B.D.Johnson, Andrew Burch, James Chaney, Robert Ashcraft, Elisha Messenger, Benjamin Carrell, and Samuel Livingston. I found others in other companies of the 43rd but found it unusual this many this far are all C Company? Does anyone know how many were prisoners, were they all sent to the same Prison? I will continue to dig for more names but thought I wanted to share this interest.
