    2. Re Lankston Hudson Family. Hi! Sorry, but I have searched and researched David HUDSON-Rebecca BOWLING family and I am positive they are NOT the parents of our original Greene Co Hudsons. The HUDSON families seem to be riddled with the names: Hall, Lankston, Starling and even David! And I've been looking for our family almost 40 years!!! GOOD LUCK in your search! Keep us posted on anything new! Another Hudson Cuz! Alma Titus Mormance, Indianapolis

    3. For those new to the roots web and those of you veterans I would like to say that there are many folks who subscribe that are willing to do what they can to help others in their research. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 1743 prisoners of war on record from the state of Indiana and about 700 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. I also do the research for any prisoners from any state that were here. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of mispellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. Please do not concider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. Please email me directly for lookup request at Frye@gnat.net I also take grave photos for a small fee that covers my cost. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. Though I have not been able to prove this for myself, there is a widow, Rebecca Hudson, living with her daughter and son-in-law, Harmon and Jane (Hudson) Brown, in Greene County Indiana in the 1850 Census. She was 75. One of the two children still at home with Harmon and Jane is Lankston Brown. The earliest census in which I can find any of the Hudson crew in Greene County is the 1830 census. However, there is no David Hudson living in Greene County at that time. He may have stayed in Kentucky. I hope this helps.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HUDSON, HATFIELD Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4660 Message Board Post: THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, May 21, 1903, Volume XXXV, Number 12, Page 3, Column 4 & 5, “OBITUARY—Hudson.” Henry HUDSON was born in Center Township, Greene County, Indiana, December 4, 1854, and lived there until his death, which occurred as the result of a carbuncle, on May 13, 1903. He was the son of the late James HUDSON, one of the pioneer citizens of Indiana, who departed this life last fall. The deceased was married to Amanda HATFIELD in 1875, and to this union was born ten children, all of whom survive, with the mother, to mourn their father’s untimely death. The oldest son, J. M. HUDSON, resides in Bloomfield, Indiana, and is at present deputy prosecuting attorney. The next son, A. M. HUDSON, spent three years in the Philippine War and now resides in St. Anthony, Idaho. The others reside in Center Township near the old homestead of their father. Throughout his life he was a good citizen; honest and upright in all his dealings, kind and courteous with all whom he met and in every respect a truthful, upright and ideal man, and a host of friends and no enemies. His life was so noble and pure that all who knew him could truly say that in his character the better elements were so mixed that all the world could truthfully say that he was an ideal man. But he is gone. The cold monster of death has laid his chilly finger upon him and he has faded from our sight as fades the flowers of summer before the autumn’s frosts; but that noble life shall remain ever green in the minds and hearts of all who knew him. During his sickness everything was done fro him that could be done by his many friends and relatives, and every possible effort was made to stay the fleeting life, but all in vain, and on Wednesday morning, May 13, at 1:30 o’clock, he departed this life like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams. The funeral services were conducted by his life long friend, Rev. J. H. Neal, on Thursday at the Flynn Cemetery where his remains were laid to rest. *** — Card of Thanks We desire to thank our many friends and neighbors for their aid and assistance which was so kindly given during the last sickness of our beloved husband and father—Mrs. AMANDA HUDSON AND CHILDREN.
