The given names Riley, Dison, William, Thomas, and Benjamin (3/4 Cherokee) seem to be the males; and this line goes back through TN and SC (NC?) until you get to the Trail of Tears in 1838. Our Rapers apparently hid out and did not go West. There are some Indian names as well (Aquah, for one) associated to the females, as 2 Rapiers (or Napiers) apparently married 2 Indian girls at one time. There is also the name McDaniel (an Indian) involved. If any of this means anything to anyone, I'd appreciate a response. Thanks.

    3. Hi Kathy, I believe you will find that Rolla name was Albert Rolla (Roll) Crum instead of Rolla Albert. He was my gt grandmother Rebecca Crum brother's son. Rolla had two children that I know of-Mary Lee and Martha Naomi. Mary Lee was b 18 Dec 1915 and married John Green 13 Oct 1945. Naomi was b 11 Aug 1919 a year before my mother. Naomi married Shelton Kaiser 23 Dec 1945. Brothers were Daniel and John. She appears on the 1880 census Washington Twp., Greene Co., with her family (she's 6 y/o). No 1890 census is available, I presume. Then, by the 1900 census, she no longer appears with her family. She would have been 26 y/o. Perhaps she married, but I don't know who she married, and thus don't know her married name, much less what happened to her after the 1880 census! This is my "mystery to be solved" -- can anyone help? Thanks!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ci.2ADE/4766.1.1 Message Board Post: Lowell, Guess were related. Thomas and Vianna/Vienna (Kelly) Headley were married 4/27/1854 in Coshocton County Ohio (about 120 miles east of Columbus). From what I understand they had 8-9 children. One of these was a Caroline (born in Ohio about 1860) and another was Martha (born in Indiana 1868). Martha was my great grandmother. Thomas married a Sarah Knowles in 1873 so I am assuming Vianna died around 1871-2. (1870 census shows her and Thomas/family in Stafford TWP Greene County IN.). If I'm not mistaken your email address indicates your last name as Nichols. Info indicates Thomas and Vianna had a child named Eliza J. Headley and she married a George Nichols (son of Alford and Nancy Shepherd). Do these names mean anything to you. By the way my mother remembers Caroline (your great grandmother). Would appreciate any info especially locations of tombstones of the Headley's. Planning on gong up to Greene/Sullivan Co. this week to take photos. (Do you know where Caroline is buried and what her last/husbands name was??) If I can be of help let me know. Bill
