CORBIN." [Transcribed on March 8, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Mary Catherine (PRICE) CORBIN, eldest daughter of Landon C. and Emaline PRICE, deceased, of near Owensburg, was born March 21, 1856, and departed this life May 19, 1927, aged seventy-one years, one month, and twenty-eight days. She was united in marriage to Martin F. CORBIN on March 4, 1875. To this union were born four children. Mrs. CORBIN professed her belief in Christ at the age of seventeen years at the Bethel church in Jackson Township and was baptized by Bro. FLOYD, and lived in that faith to the end. She was a kind an loving mother; a devoted sister, and was loved by all her neighbors, and she numbered her friends by the legion. She was of a generous disposition, never turning away from her door anyone who sought assistance-always dividing of what she had to the poor and needy. She was a true believer in Christ, and prayed for the young people of today. She sang and shouted glory to God to the end, and truly God cared for her to the end, and her bright spirit went away to join her husband, children and friends to dwell in that Spirit Land to await the morning of the Great Resurrection. Besides the daughter and grandson, she is also survived by four brothers. They are Mitchell PRICE, of Owensburg; Joseph G. PRICE, of Winfield, Kansas; Ira PRICE, of Sullivan, Illinois, and Moses PRICE, of Bethany Illinois, and two sisters, Mrs. Mattie KIDD, of Douglass, Kansas, and Mrs. John PRATT, of Chanute, Kansas. She accepted her savior and was buried with him in baptism at the age of twenty years at Moody, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Otis F. She had been in poor health for some time but recently attended church at Kentucky Ridge, where she renewed her faith in God. During her short illness and the fatal illness of herself and her father and mother, she realized they would soon be called home. She was willing to go and only a few hours she went on before her father. The deceased was ambitious and by doing for others will be greatly missed by loving and sorrowing relatives and friends.
