Author: williamlawson90 Surnames: Puckett, Burch, Lawson Classification: lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene/9758/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to connect Richard Puckett and his wife Rebecca Cleaver, who died in Indiana about 1837, with the Richard Puckett and his wife Rececca Cleaver who were married in Patrick County, VA on 3 Mar 1830. Are these Pucketts the same people, and the parents of our Richard A. Puckett? Our ancestor was Richard A. Puckett, 1830-1896,and his wife was Matilda Lawson, 1835-1908. We are having no luck finding Richard A's parents with a certainty. The best clue is this phrase in a Heritage of Patrick County, VA, book; "His parents probably were Richard Puckett and Rebecca Cleaver." I find this couple married on 6 Mar 1830 in Patrick County, VA, Marriages. The same minister, Julius Terrell, shows up later in our family records. No other records can be found for Richard and Rebecca Cleaver here. No birth record for Richard A. can be found, only census records when he had his own family. Was he born somewhere else? I find a Richard Puckett and Rebecca Cleaver in Greene County, Indiana, in message boards, from people who say they are GGGchildren. My Richard should have had a son named Richard A.. The other one apparently didn't, but he had four girls. My Richard and Rebecca disappeared from the records between 1830 and 1840, in SW VA, the same time the other Richard and Rebecca showed up in Indiana and died there as did two of the four daughters in the same year, 1837. (Even if they are not the people I'm searching for, I would like to know how those four people died}. The surviving two daughters went to live with other families. This info came from a Burch family message board I found. The surviving daughters must be the ancestors of the folks writing to the message board. The daughters would be hard to trace because women have the habit of taking their groom's name. I need someone in Greene County, IN to search courthouse records for any info that can be found on their Richard Puckett and Rebecca Cleaver, including Richard's middle name, and on the children. I connected with researchers who knew her maternal family line. Her father was John Greene/Green and her mother was Charity Swaim. I have more information on the Swaims; they came from NC as well. I have Gayland Lamb as being Salathiel Lamb's father also, but I don't know where that info originated. I haven't been able to verify it. He and his wife, Elizabeth McHargue, died fairly young, perhaps at the same time(she died in 1879, he before 1880...accident/disease?). At least three of their sons lived with her father for awhile afterward; this may explain why there wasn't much knowledge passed down about the Cassner side of their family. I still believe Samuel was a brother (or possibly a cousin) to Vandal, living nearby, a son of George and Margaret Yeager Casner. Sorry I couldn't help with your search. I think the previous reply was right about Jesse & Lydia Clarke Hutchins being Sarah Ann's parents, although I can't prove it yet. Names of individuals in Jesse & Lydia's family were repeated many times through the years. William and Sarah Ann had sons named Jesse and Giles (a son of Jesse & Lydia), and they had a daughter named Lydia Margaret (two daughters of Jesse & Lydia). They also had a daughter named Diama, who I believe is named after her great aunt, Diama Carmichael Hutchins (married Elcanah Clarke Hutchins). I also had a great aunt named Lydia and another named Diama. If Sarah Ann wasn't a daughter of Jesse & Lydia, I don't know why these names were important. As to Sarah Ann's Ky birth, there could be an error. Or, perhaps this Hutchins family moved to Ky for a spell then came back to Indiana? I have a family in my line who moved back and forth at least two times; once before 1850 and back, then once around 1860 and back again. Author: vickifgc54 Surnames: Lamb, Greene Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene/9748.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I found Joseph & Lucy Ann Lamb in the 1850 Greene Co. census, along with two girls, Winny M.(8) & Martha (6). In 1860, there are no children listed in their home. According to my records, Lucy died in 1869 and is buried in the Dishman Cemetery, Jackson Twp, Greene Co. IN. I believe that came from the cemetery list. I couldn't find Joseph (or the girls) in the 1870 Greene Co census. If I find more about them, I'll let you know. I am a descendent of Joseph's brother, John Washington Lamb, and wife, Martha "Patsy" Greene. Do you have any earlier Lamb ancestors of Joseph & John? What I have seems kind of sketchy. Sorry, I haven't checked these posts for a long time! I believe Samuel/Thomas Cassner (married Elizabeth McHargue) was a brother to Vandal; therefore, he would be George and Margaret's son as well. They were living near each other in Greene Co, IN, they were born in Oh, and they would have been close in age. I haven't found proof to date, but I feel it has to be. If they were not brothers, then they must have been cousins. Do you know anything else about this Cassner/Casner line? Thanks!
