Can't find her in 1880. Sarah was born a year earlier in Greene Co., Indiana and there is no indication that the family moved. Mary is buried next to her husband in Pleasant Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery (A.K.A. Greenbriar). Photos of tombstones can be found on the myfamily.com Dyar/Dyer site under Greenbriar. Thomas, who married Rhoda Dunnigan was the father of Mary, Sally, Amy, etc. came from North Carolina. Family history has him the son of James Clark (research by Doris Dyar Thomason). Thomas arrived in Greene Co. about the same time as Caleb Jessep and probably from the same place. It is quite likely that they were related to Nancy and Rachel, but I have not found it. Your email address came up as blocked (probably something on my end). If you'd like, try my [email protected] to correspond. John Masters is the only Masters mentioned in the 1884 Goodspeed's "History..." on page 106 as follows: "In 1859, Samuel H. Buskirk held court at the April term of the Circuit Court, under appointment from Judge Claypool. At the October term,William M. Franklin acted as Special Prosecuting Attorney. During the year, William B. Squire, Henry C. Owen, John T. Smith, William C. Andrews, William J. McIntosh, Nathan Kimball, William Blackburn, John Masters, James Jackson and Joseph W. I misspoke in one of my replies. My dad did not know Mary Dixon as he was not born until 1934. He remembers her granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Custer Rice. I have attached a picture that I have of her family. Of course I would love to know what pictures you have. I have several of the John W. Newsom clan. He was the oldest son of A.J. and Amy. Mary Dixon would have been my great grandmother's aunt. Hope this helps. Laura Hoskins Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My grandmother's name was Cecil Emma Bartley. Her Mother was Sarah Jane Burch (born 12-5-1870). I have been given information that Sarah J. Burch shows up in the 1880 Washington Twp., Daviess Co., IN census, age 9, listed as a servant in the household of Solomon Williams. If this is the same Sarah J Burch - she could have been "farmed out" or orphaned by 1880. I have no information on her parents. Could this Sarah J Burch be part of the George Burch Family? [Transcribed on June 26, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] Mrs. William C. ANDREWS, ninety-three years old, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. Z. BARKER, at Worthington last Saturday. A short time ago Mrs. ANDREWS fell and broke her hip. Pneumonia developed and caused her death. She is survived by three children, Mrs. BARKER and William C. ANDREWS, JR, of Worthington, and Mrs. Joseph HOUSUM, of Chicago. Mrs. ANDREWS celebrated her ninety-third birthday, September 19th. She was one of the oldest residents of this community. Her father, James STALCUP, owned the land which is now the east part of town. He had a cotton field where the business part of Worthington now stands. Mrs. ANDREWS was married in 1858 to William C. ANDREWS, who was the first president of the first bank in Worthington. He laid out the town and gave it the name of Worthington for his home town in Ohio. Due to his efforts in securing subscriptions and rights of way for the Indianapolis & Vincennes railroad. Mrs. ANDREWS was the first woman to ride on this road. Mrs. ANDREWS was a great friend of the late deceased, Mrs. Sarah WARNICK-DOBBINS, of this place. Martha Beasley was Locky Collings mother, according to a letter from "aunt" Martha A Burch to Emma Rhodes in 1927. Locky was the first wife of Davis and would have been my ggg grandmother. George Micajah was my gg grandfather. He married Martha Ellen Stone on Nov. 26, 1863. They had 11 children. Their fifth child was my great grandfather, Ira. Martha Ellen was the sixth child of Enoch and Sarah J. Bolin Stone. I have an obituary of Martha, but it is a handwritten copy and I'm not sure where it came from. A sister named Sarah White of Kearney, Neb., was mentioned. ________________________________ From: [email protected] on behalf of [email protected] Sent: Mon 6/25/2007 6:32 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [INGREENE] George Burch Family This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
