Hello List, I am new to this list and have a question. I lost contact with my father many years ago. After getting involved in genealogy recently, I learned that he died in 1984 while living in Marion, Indiana. He died in a VA hospital and no one was aware that he had family. I have been trying to locate various records on him, specifically his adoption and military records which I know were in his possession. My question is: When someone dies and no family members are known, what happens to his important papers and records? Any help would be appreciated. Rhonda
