    2. I was told last night that my grandmothers brother died last week. We have not been able to contact the family. My grandmother wanted information on his funeral and such. Mr. Hayes lived his entire life in Fairmount as far as I know. Would any of you locals happen to know where I could get a copy of the local obituary page. Thanks, Debora

    1. Hello
    2. Kathryn Parks
    3. Hello, My name is Kathryn Bowman Parks and I am the great-granddaughter of John George Bowman who was in Grant Co., IN 1850 and 1860. I need to find the census index data for Grant County 1860. Could someone check it for me? I have access to the 1860 census but don't know the page and township to look in. John George Bowman, Rosannah, and several others should be listed including my grandfather Nathan W. Bowman. Thank you for your help. I need a copy of the census and if I can get the data from the index, I can get that copy. Kathryn

    1. Carroll, Cole, McCrum, Richardson
    2. Judy Cameron
    3. I have just joined the list and am looking for information on the following Grant County families: CARROLL I descend from William Carroll (1821-1889) and his wife, Penina (Paninah, Pininah) Ellis (1825-1889). They were members of the Back Creek Friends Meeting. COLE I descend from Phillip Cole (1700's) and his wife, Alice Larsh (d.1788). They are buried in the Ballinger/Hog Creek Cemetery near Upland. MCCRUM My g-grandfather was Thomas Sabin McCrum (1854-1915). He married Charlotte Peninah Richardson (1877-1970). Family legend says that he came from Ireland as a boy and stayed with the family of Richard Beckett. During this time he went by the name of Dick Beckett. RICHARDSON My 4xgreat-grandfather was Dr. Jacob Richardson. He lived in Ohio at one time but his grandson's (Henry RIchardson) obituary calls Jacob a pioneer of Grant County. Jacob's son, Henry's father was John Richardson (b. 1825). If any of this sounds familiar to anyone please contact me. Judy Cameron wefit@fwi.com

    3. Hello, I am the new State Coordinator for the Indiana Census Project and would like to urge each of you to consider transcribing a Census. I along with about a million other Genealogists would Thank you. Our Project was started by volunteers of The USGenWeb Project, to transcribe all of the US Federal Census' and upload them to the Internet where they will be available in a searchable archive for all, for FREE. We provide our volunteer transcribers with either a database Program, for census years 1850 and 1860, that has been written exclusively for this Project, or a spreadsheet template for all other years. Our programmer is writing updates that will eventually include all other years. For MAC users we have a Coordinator who specializes in MAC's and she will get you the templates you need. At this time we are unable to provide our transcribers with a copy of the census for the county they wish to transcribe. Each of you must obtain your own copy of the census you sign up for. You will be volunteering your time to transcribe and you will be volunteering the acquisition of the census information. This information can be acquired on CD or in book form. Please consider helping this worthwhile project. Best wishes Sandra USGENWEB Census Project Maryland State Coordinator Indiana State Coordinator Traces of the Past http//www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/7259

    1. HAMMOND, MINNICK
    2. Kelly
    3. *Greetings & Happy Holidays* I am looking for information on the surnames of HAMMOND and MINNICK in Grant Co (possibly in the Gas City area). In the death records i found a Carl MINNICK, born Jan 22, 1913 in Gas City and died in Marion on April 27, 1992. His parents were listed as Lawrence MINNICK and Grace HAMMOND. My main interest is in the HAMMOND name. I am hoping that there is some kind of a connection with Grace HAMMOND and my ggrandmother Lucy HAMMOND, b. May 27,1880 - d. Nov 04, 1936 Muncie, Ind. Lucy married (my ggrandfather) John M DAVIS, abt 1900, and they were divorced shortly after the birth of my grandmother Jessie DAVIS in 1905. Lucy then married James MINNICK, August 04, 1912 Delaware Co. I would love to find the names of Lucy's parents and other possible siblings she may of had. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Kelly Runyon Bragg
