There are no Denton's listed in the book, however, the book is limited to the peoples lineage's, who cared to submit their lineage's. Simply by keeping this list active and continuing to run your names, will alert other researchers to your names. Don't forget this list is young, and hopefully if everyone finds it helpful, they will pass the address on to other connected researcher. I am still having computer and printer problems, so will have to return it to the repairman. I hope we don't loose our list members while I'm trying to get this straightened out. Who else has any books on the county to offer lookups? If nothing else, we could have a roll call from time to time. Hello Judy, Yes, ...... The book is most certainly indexed. I highly recommend this book of lineage to anyone researching Grant County. They lived the rest of their lives there and my father Frederick Oliver Wright was born in Marion, as was I. Oliver was apparently the sheriff for a while. Anyone connect with Thomas? It's been 15 years and I've found lots of other lines of these people, but Thomas just sit there...

I am sorry that I have to ask again but I have mistakenly deleted the address of St. Paul church in Gas City that some person gave me. If I could prevail on someone to send me the address again I would appreciate it. Thank you and kind regards, Larry
Sorry everyone. Our computer hasn't been the same since my husband put the update of Quicken 2000 on. For some reason, the printer would print one document, then we had to reboot to get another print out of it. After I spent a week at our daughter's, we thought it was fixed, but alas. We bought a new printer, and the man kept the tower and printer for a couple of weeks, and I brought it home yesterday, and now I can't print at all. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm at a loss of what to do. Just spent $245 for service and larger memory, bought a new printer, and I'm worse off than before. Any suggestions? Gini

Hello Listers! I am new to this list and I am hoping to get some assistance. I am seeking information on the family Honorable William M. Amsden. He was born July 28, 1857 in Jefferson or Jennings Co., IN. He married Sophie Dean on April 19, 1888 in Jefferson County. His parents were Caleb D. Amsden and Nancy Moncrief. I also know that Caleb's father was Amos. When William's mother died in April 1909, her obituary states her son, Honorable William M. Amsden was living in Grant Co. I am hoping that in the Grant Co. history somewhere it might tell more about William and where his father and father came from. I can't find anything on Amos Amsden. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Karen
Hi Lister, I am researching the Mahlon Neal who moved to Grant County about 1830. His wife was Rachel Duncan. They came to Grant County from Miami County, Ohio. Their children are mentioned in the Grant County History book. William and Eli are especially mentioned. Did the all family move away or did they die out? Both are happening in Clay County, IN, where three of Mahlon's nephews moved about the same time frame. If anyone has any information to share on this family I surely would appreciate hearing from you. By the way, this family belonged to the Quaker faith. Doris Louise Neal, in Clay County, Indiana
My connection to Edward Jones is thru his marriage to Emily LaForge. My gr grandmother, Serilda Adaline LaForge Hall, was the sister of Emily LaForge Jones. Edward was born 11 Apr 1827 in Indiana. I have not found when or where he died. Edward and Emily were married circa 1851/52 and had 7 children: 1) Thomas C. Jones born 4 Sep 1852 - died before 1860 2) Mary E. Jones born 5 Aug 1854 in Grant Co, Indiana. Died 29 May 1884 and is buried in the Converse Cemetery in Richland, Grant Co, In. 3) Nancy Jones born 20 Apr 1855 in Grant Co. Died 23 Mar 1856 in Sims, Grant Co, In. and is buried in the Thrailkill Cemetery also in Sims. 4) Priscilla Roseabelle Jones born 28 Jan 1858 in Grant Co. Died 4 Mar 1861 in Grant Co and is also buried in the Thrailkill Cemetery. 5) William E. Jones born 17 Aug 1860 in Grant Co 6) Joshua W. Jones born 7 Nov 1862 in Grant Co 7) Inda Grace Jones born 28 mar 1877 in Grant Co. Married Charles Homer Detamore on 27 Sep 1900 in Grant Co. she died in 1827 and is buried in the Converse Cemetery. Inda wrote all the names and dates in a little book that her grandson has in his possession. I would love to find out what happened to William and Joshua. I have not found these two boys by doing a line by line search of the 1880 Grant Co census nor anything conclusive on the 1880 Soundex. I would also like to know who Edward's family was. I am one of those "family" genealogists, I want to at least know the names of the parents of those who married my relatives and siblings, if possible. I am hoping this looks familiar to someone. would someone look up William C. Brenker in the 1860 Census? I am looking for descendents of John b. April 18, 1816 in VT and Euphemia b. 2/15/1821 in OH SHAFFER HEATH. They were married in Tuscarawas Co., OH in 1838 or 1839 and moved to Owen Co., IN by 1850. They had a number of children, Jemima, John Calvin, Peter, Francis, Hannah, Delila, James M. (Madison?), Susan and Tabitha. John was a school teacher for at least a while. I believe I may have run across some of Euphemia's kin in Clay and Owen Co., but don't have their names in front of me. After Euphemia died in 1861, John HEATH married Elizabeth KELLUM and they had some more children. Peter HEATH died in a Confederate POW camp during the war. Francis and James M. HEATH had farms near their father in 1870. I am most interested in descendents of John Calvin HEATH b. 7/24/1841 since he was my g-grandfather. He married a Mary BOWMAN (possibly BEAMAN) in 1864. Their son, Maryfield was my grandfather. I believe they had another son, Marion, who died in Belle Union, Putnam Co., IN in the 20s or 30s. Mary died in 1867 and John C. left Maryfield with his sister, Hannah HEATH McCULLOUGH and her husband William Henry McCULLOUGH. I have no idea what became of Marion between this time and when he turned up in Belle Union. I believe Mary BOWMAN was the daughter of John and Nancy BOWMAN who lived near John HEATH's farm in the 1860 census and had a daughter Mary aged 15 in 1860. I'm told John C. and Mary HEATH's marriage license says BEAMAN for her father, but haven't actually seen it myself. John Calvin HEATH then married Hester Jane PHILLIPS in Waynetown, Montgomery co., IN. They had 9 children: William Sanford b. 1/20/1873, Eliza Ephema b. 4/3/1874, Nelson Ney b. 2/11/1876, Jesse Guy b. 11/15/1878, Ira Iggy b. 1/29/1881, Mona Ray b. 10/25/1884, Pearl May b. 1/10/1886, Clyde Clifford b. 3/30/1888, Nellie M. b. 11/24/1890. After John Calvin died 12/19/1893, Hester Jane married Harry Nelson in Gas City, Grant Co., IN. I don't know the date, but believe that they raised most of John Calvin and Hester Jane's children in Gas City. If you are related to this crew, I would appreciate hearing from you. I expect there was a family Bible, since John HEATH was a school teacher, but my branch of the family didn't get it. I do have xeroxes of John Calvin HEATH's family Bible. Does anyone know if there was a generally accepted way these were passed to the next generation? I would guess the eldest son got it. Did each couple buy their own Bible and start records when they got married? Thank you for your time and attention.
