Hi Listers, Does anyone on the list know what the minimum age a person had to be to file first papers or "Declaration of intent" when applying for citizenship? In short did a person have to be 21 years old or could they files at an earlier age? This question keeps coming up in my research and I can't get an answer from the INS or NARA. Does anyone know for sure? I would really appreciate putting this question to bed. Larry, Tucson

Sorry about the first reply, sent it before I realized what I was doing. The marriages for Gas City are recorded at the courthouse in Marion. Marrriages are recorded at county level not city. These indexes are also available at the Marion Public Library. Hope this helps. Sheila D. The Frederick Rice Family reunion will be held July 1, 2000, on the old RICE homestead on the grounds of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC). Frederick RICE was the only son of Barnhart RICE, who immigrated from Germany between 1728 and 1746. After serving in the Revolutionary War, Frederick married Anna Catherine LAUFFER in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. They later moved to Wayne County, Ohio, near Wooster. A number of Frederick and Catherine RICE's descendants migrated to Indiana from Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania in the mid-1800s and settled in northeastern Indiana, particularly in the counties of Huntington, Allen, Whitley, Wabash, Wells, Adams, and Jay. The Frederick Rice Family reunion committee is preparing an update of the Genealogy of the Frederick Rice Family. If you are descended from Frederick and Catherine Rice, please contact the reunion committee and update your family information. You will find more about Frederick RICE and his family and more information about the upcoming reunion at the OARDC, accommodations and local attractions at these links: Frederick Rice Family homepage: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~frederickrice/ Rootsweb WorldConnect Frederick Rice Family page http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=frederickrice Gary Rice Roanoke, Indiana

Yes this is what would become the VA Hospital and they were mostly Civil War Vets. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Chan" <lindachan1347@telus.net> To: <INGRANT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 1:08 AM Subject: Marion Branch National Military House > > > In looking over the 1900 Grant County census, I see that there is a listing of men who lived at the "Marion Branch National Military House". It was in Center township. Most of the men listed are over age 50. Does anyone know, could this have been an early form of the V.A. Hospital? Would records be available? If these men are veterans, seems likely they would be Civil War vets. > > Linda > > > ============================== > Ancestry.com Genealogical Databases > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/rwlist2.asp > Search over 2500 databases with one easy query! > >
