Hello subscribers; As a rule, I do not send these Rootsweb messages unless I find them to be important. This is important! Most of the persons who send messages with the HTML coding that appears after the original message are new to E-mail and or the INTERNET and are either unaware that every message that goes out has the message embedded in the HTML code at the bottom of their message, or do not think it is a big deal and so it does not get dealt with. Now, this message is only good for those persons who are now subscribed to the lists that I manage. It does not stop the new persons who are subscribing. Actually, our listowners list has given us a little template to use and I send it out to persons who are sending out the HTML mail. You subscribers are so great...HTML is very rare on this list along with some of the anti-NETIQUETTE behavior that I have seen other listowners complain about. You sign all of your mail, you give as much information as possible without going overboard. You do not send the bad stuff which is pretty much anything that is not to the point "OF THE LIST" be it "surname" or locality". You do not send the hated "ATTACHMENTS" and most important, you do not pass on non-genealogy messages. All of these items & more have good reasons for being and that is illustrated by Brian's message. One further note, you will notice, that in my signature, I have written T.YLER & D.UNCAN. I learned to do this to stop the archives from focusing on "MY" ==NAMES== when persons seeking those names in "OTHER" messages. It took me over 6 months to stop sending out a "SCREEN-SIZED" signature. I thought it was cute to put up all of my surnames. And a few persons complained but what the heck, it was my call. Then, as I matured in the nature of Rootsweb mailing lists, I chopped and snipped until I got it down to 5 lines. <Right now, it is larger as I want to let everyone know that I am operating in EMERGENCY mode until I get the rest of my mail moved from WIN3.1 ((It went AWOL)) to WIN95> I expect to pare it back to 5 lines by the end of March. So, for what it is worth, please read and understand and continue to be the smartest subscribers at Rootsweb. Never forget, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me!
