It may be a red herring, but.... The family of Archibald Ingram, provost of Glasgow 1766, held a plantation in Jamaica called Harmony House (nr. Montego Bay). The names Alexander, John, James, Robert and Hugh, figure prominently in this family. Ties between Virginia and Jamaica seem to have been fairly close, judging by accounts I have of some of my family who lived in the W.I. It's a long shot, but may be worth checking. If your Alexander was a plantation owner I'd definitely check it out. BTW- I'm not related, two professional genealogists identified this as our family, but I found the proof that they were wrong. - Guy Ingram, in Lismore NSW Australia KB198@aol.com wrote: > > Looking for the parents of Alexander Ingram, b. about 1704 (birthplace > unknown) and d. about 1783 in Botetourt County, VA.
