    3. 'The Heritage of Caswell County North Carolina 1985' written by Jeannie D. Whitlow Article #367 John and Mary INGRAM John and Mary (surname unknown) INGRAM were living in Caswell Co by 1779. On March 22, 1779 John bought 311 acres on both sides of Moon's Creek from James ROBERTS of Pittsylvania Co., VA. John also received a land grant of 595 acres on Lick Fork of Moon's Creek in 1783. John and Mary were parents of six children. Archibald INGRAM was born August 17, 1776. He married Mary 'Poly' NICHOLS in Person CO on Sept 16, 1802. (see separate article). Elisha INGRAM was born April 27, 1778. He married Margaret 'Peggy' TAYLOR on Nov. 3, 1808 in Caswell Co. Bondsman was Thomas BURTON, Elisha and Peggy lived in Caswell CO a number of years and then moved to Greenville Co, SC. Elisha died May 3, 1841 and Peggy died in 1866. James INGRAM married Betsy EVANS in Caswell CO on Oct 18, 1808. Bondsman was David WOMACK. Stephen INGRAM married Mira BUSH in Caswell CO on December 10, 1808. Elisha INGRAM was the bondsman. Elizabeth married Stephen CHANDLER in Caswell Co on Dec 21, 1805. John PINSON and William WILKERSON were bondsman and witness. Susannah Ingram married Jesse PERKINS in Caswell CO on August 19, 1795. Bondsman James BURTON. The will of John INGRAM was written July 15, 1820. Witness were Thomas SLADE, Henry A. BURTON, James WHITE, and Walker WHITE. John lent to hes wife, Mary, 160 acres during her life and at her death to his son, Stephen. He also left to Stephen "one set of Black Smith tools, which he now works with" John left 228 acres to Archibald, 200 acres to Elisha, and 150 acres to James . . . . Mary died in 1824. An inventory of her property was taken Oct 4, 1824 by the administrator, James INGRAM. Then an inventory was taken of the estate of John INGRAM deceased, lent to Mary INGRAM deceased.
