John, I misspoke. Barthana Lee was (acc. to "John Lee, Esq. and some of Desc.", by Weldon Johnson, et al.) the daughter of Edward Lee's son John, Edward being the son of John Lee, Esq. See below. I've indicated Barthana Lee and also Sam Lee who married Betsy Ingram. Sam and Betsy were my gg grandparents. They migrated to McNairy Co., TN around 1845, then to Franklin Co., AR just before the Civil War. Now, I've got 6 William Ingrams in my files: Wm Ingram-probate 1771 Johnston Co., NC, md. dau.of John Lee, Esq. Wm Ingram-son of Barbaby Ingram Wm Ingram-husband of Edward Lee's granddaughter Barthana Wm Calvin Ingram-son of Sewell Ingram of Hamilton Co., IL Wm C. Ingram-son of Wm Calvin Ingram Wm Ingram-son of Shadrach (md. Polly DeLoach) who was son of Shadrach I don't have parents for William Ingram who married Barthana Lee. Hello, Mary; Having computer problems means you get to find these little pockets of mail that you probably never answered. Since I created the INGRAM-L mailing list at Rootsweb in Sep 1997, I thought I'd write to you and also forward your names to a top INGRAM researcher. If you are not already on the INGRAM-L mailing list and would like to be, let me know. For a fact a William Ingram married a daughter of John Lee, Esq. John Lee, Esq.'s will (1766) mentions a "grandson Shadrach Ingram", who it turns out was son of William. But, I think you're speaking of a different William Ingram. The "John Lee, Esq. and his Descendants" book by Weldon Johnston, et al. has a Bethana LEE (b. circa 1790, d. before 1835) who married a William Ingram. Bethana is said to be the daughter of John Lee, Jr. who was the son of John Lee, Esq. In typical fashion, John Lee, Jr. is also referred to on occasion as John Lee, Sr. Regards, Rod At 01:10 AM 3/16/98 EST, you wrote: >William Ingram may have been married to a descendant of John Lee Esq. or >Johnston Co., NC. Hello, Subscribers; Please let me introduce Charles. He and I have been exchanging some wonderful data on my/his INGRAM/TILLMAN lines from England > VA > GA and other places. Charles has some very extensive data and you may feel free to contact him as you can see by his message below. The TILLMAN data goes back to Kent Co., Eng in the year 1225. If I am reading the data right, we are not so lucky with the INGRAM lines which only go back as far as William in about 1700 in VA. Please, by all means, enjoy. Hi! Is anyone researching the name Ingram in and around Birmingham, Warwickshire and South Staffordshire, England in the 19th century? I am happy to share my family history research to see if there are any links with other people's research. My maternal grandmother was an Ingram so I have found loads of Ingrams in my ancestry. Our group has compiled a cookbook that also contains home remedies, folklore, and anecdotes about the folks who handed them down. We have over 550 entries! This is a fund raiser to support Rootsweb -- ALL proceeds will go to them (several thousand dollars). We're really quite proud of our accomplishment in the past 3 or so weeks. Contents include recipes (appetizers, breads, desserts, main dishes, misc [salad dressings, sauces, etc.], soups/salads, veggies), home remedies, and other topics such as poetry, helpful cooking and household tips and the like. This is the website for the cookbook: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/4793/temp.html The price is $10.00, which includes taxes and shipping -- quite a bargain considering all it contains. Here is what I have for the family of James W Ingram. He was born abt 1775, I think. Wife was Nancy. They had one dau Hulda Parilee b 1850/1 m 1872 to Isaac Markle Lewis m (2) Nancy Jane bingham d/o Benjamin R and Nancy Prophet Bingham. Nancy Jan d 1863 in childbirth. **Mary This information came from Cindy Dickinson of Springdale, AR. Some is from a local researcher, some may be from county history, there is a will for James W Inram which names all his children. James W Ingram is in 1830 Rhea Co, TN and in 1840 Washington Co, AR. His son-in-law was one of the administrators of his estate, I think Robert Seymore was the other but didn't go check that for sure. Cindy has been in touch with some other descendants, a dau of Lewis married Joseph L White, who is part of the White family which married into her Maxeys. jdickens@odin.tcac.com Apparently it has been passed down in both sides of the family that Gilbert Luper married Susannah Ingram, plus there is the circumstance that he was one of the administrators of the estate. The local researcher had apparently picked up on the fact that Gilbert and Allen Luper were probably brothers and thought the Mary who was the daughter of this James Ingram had married Allen Luper. (see Goodspeed's Annals of NW Ark.) However, James' will specfices that his daughter< Mary was single in 1845, Mary and Allen Luper had been married since 1822 and Allen died before Ingram.
Please address all of your answers to Kaye at MmePotts@writeme.com Sandra in Sacramento ==================== HI, I had an e-mail from someone with the surname Benoir in it. I lost it before I had a chance to answer it. I would really appreciate a copy of the message if someone recognizes it. I am on several different lists and don't recall which list it was on. A friend used my 'puter and accidently deleted my folder with the saved unanswered mail. Thanks in advance Kaye
Am looking for information on Olive Ingram, born May 1847, N.Y. Married to Charles Nichols in 1873 in Iowa. Died 31 Dec 1904. Buried in Bellingham, Washington. Donna Nelson
I'm looking for any family information about MARTHA JANE SMART (Feb 22, 1822 - Apr 10, 1908). She married JAMES ARNOLD INGRAM (Nov 11, 1820 - Nov 29, 1898) on Feb 4, 1847 in Patrick Co, VA. James & Martha lived all their lives in Patrick County and are buried there. An elderly relative told me she came from Halifax, although I do not know if this is true. If anyone out there has info on her parents and siblings, I'd love to share! Shelby
Does anyone know about the Uriah INGRAM, found in the 1700's in KY? Valerie
Now that we seem to have some new, active researchers on this list would like to inquire one more time and James Wilson Ingram. He is in the 1830 census for Bledsoe Co, TN, where William Lee and wife died. Both William Lee and James Ingram had land grants from state of TN. In the next county, Rhea County, we find James Ingram's son-in-law, Gilbert Luper, another son-in-law, Young B Monday. These families all went to Washington Co AR by 1837 or so. Washington Co AR is where a Shadrack Ingram landed, a few years earlier per tax lists mentioned in the AIS census index on fiche at LDS family history centers. One reason I am interested is that there were also some Lupo/Lupers in Johnston Co, AR. By the way, I have the Michael King family that married into the Ingrams and Lees and Powells on my home page at http://members.tripod.com/~loupero/
