I have a couple of comments about the draft Guidelines, in particular nos. 2 and 3. No. 2 reads "Maintain links to INGenWeb, USGen WEB pages, and Indiana Counties, Surnames, Queries, Obituaries, and Biographies Online" The latter is currently a subpage of the INGenWeb home page. While I find it very useful, there are other useful subpages and I'm not certain that this one should be a required link from all county pages. Very few of them currently link directly to it. No. 3 "Display INGenWeb and USGenWeb Logo on your main page". I have no problem with the INGenWeb logo, which I find elegant and useful, particularly in the commonly used format indicating the county's location. On the other hand I find the USGenWeb logo clumsy and I removed it some months back as unnecessary clutter. I've just finished fossicking through all the IN county pages looking for useful ideas for the Decatur page and I picked up quite a few clues and developed my own view, shared by others, that Orange Co stands out among the rest. I kept count of the logos and found that 15 display INGenWeb but not USGenWeb, 3 display USGenWeb without InGenWeb, and 3 show neither. I'm quite ready to abide by the rules once they're agreed to, especially since I found several pages that discreetly tuck the USGenWeb logo at a relevant point low in the page, an arrangement that I'll happily adopt.
