    3. Hi all, Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and got everything they wanted. Here is a couple of news tid-bits that you may want to see. ************************************************************* First from Megan Zurawicz, (National Coordinator USGenWeb); Because of USGenWeb's commitment to free access and free net use, we'd like to avoid even the appearance of commercial sites. Since Geocities has taken to inserting commericials into site access, I'd like to heavily encourage any county coordinators whose USGW sites are on Geocities to move them....there's Rootsweb, USRoots, Angelfire and probably other options out there that are much more polite. An additional issue is that the more sophisticated Geocities makes access to their server, the more complaints we get from users about Geocities sites....because the flashier it gets, the more users who can't, for whatever reason, access it. That said, all I have left to say is: Go out there and have a pleasant holiday season, celebrate in moderation, and let's have a great 1998. megan ******************************************************* Next from Dr. Brian Leverich ( owner of rootsweb); To request state/county space for USGW at Rootsweb, the new procedure of choice is to send the request to Barry Zurawicz, digeridu@sprintmail.com ...he's the one creating USGW accounts these days. Please make it cc'd to Brian, so he can keep track of what's going on... Thanks. ******************************************** So,if you need a place to house your InGenWeb site just write to Barry at the address above,be sure to make it clear what State and County you want the account for and remember,it is FREE. I guess that is about all I have for now,Hope we all have a Happy New Year. Later..........Fred
