I was at the LDS library yesterday and came across the microfiche #6044079 which was the City Guide and Directory of Madison, IN and at the last of fiche 2 and first of 3 there was a listing of the postoffices that were in existence in the various states and territories in 1859. Although I use the GNIS and also the 1854 Atlas from Ancestry.com I found some listed there that WERE NOT on either of those two listings. Just thought you might want to know so you can check out the counties youd do and their respective town names. The way it is organized is this -- NOT state alphabetical -- it is alphabetical within the state by the counties and then by the townships then the town names. Enjoy, Judy M.
